I just don't know how those of you in really warm climates do it! I can't even blame it on the humidity because it's not high today. It's such a perfect gardening day and I have soooo much to do. Guess I'll just keep taking ice water and computer breaks. ;-) Tamara
I'm wilting and it's only 77!
Don't quite understand myself. Our temps are moderate and so is the humidity. However, I can't stay with it for more than half an hour.....perspiring like a big dog.....not usually a problem for me.
My sister moved from Ohio to Arizona, and she says you just eventually adjust. I'm sure it just feels so hot because it's been only in the 50s and 60s here. Tamara
Don't feel bad. I hate the heat and always wilt. I am utterly useless in the heat.
The past few days have been very tough once it gets passed noon. It got to 95 yesterday and normal temp is mid 70s for this time of year...yuck.
Oh,
BTW, my mil grew up in CT and she is now in AZ. The heat is totally different, no moisture and she cools off rapidly..she says she is handling the change very well...I will take dry heat over moisture anyday.
Remember when we kids? We could run around in the sun all days without batting an eye? Or at least that's the way I remember it. Tamara
Not me! I even hated the heat then! LOL
I have always been able to handle the heat IF I stay wet. As long as I spray myself with the garden hose and drink enough water I can stick with it. But yes, I get so tired.
I'm digging a trench today to work on getting the water going away from the house and out of my grow room. I have never sweat so much in my life! It's not really that hot here today but it must be the humidity. I feel like I just washed my hair and I know I look like it. Gross.
I didn't spray myself today because as I said, it's cool. It even feels cool. But I'm just not used to digging this deeply and for this many days in a row. I feel like the water is never going to go away and it's supposed to rain again today.

I love the heat but I hate the sun!! LOL I have really fair skin so within minutes of being in the sun I am as crispy as southern fried chicken. I do my gardening in the early morning or after dinner. Actually, I prefer to do it after dinner. It's lovely and peaceful and it feels so much MORE rewarding for some reason. We are fortunate here that it is not humid, unlike when I lived on Long Island. Some days the humidity was so high it looked like fog!
I start early-as soon as the sun comes up. My solution is to throw on a bathing suit, shorts and an old T shirt. An old ball cap completes this lovely ensemble. Then I just go at it until it gets unbearable. Usually that's about 10AM. A good sign is when my glasses repeatedly slide off my face from the sweat. Then I peel off the shorts and T and jump in the pool. AHHHHHHHH! Sweet relief :)
sign.......how I wish for a pool.......
I had to wear sweats out in the garden today because it was too chilly! Crazy Ohio weather... Tuesday's high was 91 and Wednesday's high was 58! Tamara
Zione 5 girl-I feel your pain. lol I can sweat so much in 50 degree weather have to wear a bandana tied around my head to keep the sweat out of my eyes. It got worst after I went through the change. There were times I was afraid I burst into flames. I know it was not this hot when I was a kid.

Shadowgirl,
"There were times I was afraid I burst into flames."
That is the best description I have ever heard. I've been through the change for 14 years and my thermostat is still out of whack. I used to never, ever perspire and now, as you say, I am wearing a sweat band when it is in the 50's. I keep my hair very short and cropped close to my head because the back of my head is almost always wet. My DH has finally given up and wears a cap in the house because I keep it cold.
Lou C my DH is the same. He almost freezes in the summer cause I have to keep it really cool in the house.
It's pretty warm out there today in the sun. But it sure is a nice day here.
