Good morning all! I am in the process of creating a front landscaping/garden bed. I have about 1/2 done, and am having to finish the other half slowly as I have ran out of money. My question is this........the soil on the 1/2 that is not finished has a ton of weeds growing through it! I just noticed these yesterday. To be honest, there are way too many to even begin to start pulling them, and they are very close to the ground. They remind me a lot like a clover. Any suggestions on how to rid my garden of these before I finish that side?
Help with weeds!
If you've got some time before you want to plant over there, you could try solarizing the weeds--take a piece of clear plastic and put it over that bed for a few weeks, it'll cook the weeds nicely. I think it helps to water the area first (or do it after it rains). The other thing you could do is put down a thick layer of newspaper over the area to smother the weeds, then cover with mulch. Then you can just plant through that when you're ready.
