Homemade surfactant

I have always used Hi-Yeild spreader sticker mixed in my herbicides, but I was wondering if there may be a homemade solution? Maybe dish detergent or Murphy's oil soap?

I've heard of people using shaklee's 'basic H' as a wetting agent, but I really don't know much about it, except it is a surfactant.
