I have a Wisteria that needs to be moved and I know I should have done it this past winter - but . . . Is it even possible to do this now or should I wait? We are redoing the landscaping around the house and hubby says it has to go. Any advice - Thanks so much.
Transplanting Wisteria?
I have a small wisteria, about 4 feet in height, which had to get moved 2 weeks ago and it's doing nicely in the new spot. I did give it extra water and kept it shaded for about a week, though. Good luck :)

They are really tough plants so I would just pot it up for the move. Be sure to cut it way back though to lessen the shock. Just leave some leaves on each shoot though.. Maybe put it back in the ground when you won't have to worry about the dryness problem. As long as it is kept damp till it recovers it will be ok.

Thanks for the info - I will try and dig up in the next couple of days and put in a pot so I can keep an eye on it and also to move to the shade and keep it watered. Mine is only about 2 years old now and is really nice - but still no blooms - someone told me they have to be at least 3 or 4 years old? Oh well one more year. :-)
Sorry to spring this on you but you will now have to start over on that waiting period. Oh well, que sera, sera! Huh? What is time anyway, right? Hope I didn't burst any bubbles for you.

I have one that I'm shaping into a tree...the poor baby has been moved every year for the last three years, lol, I have only had it for about 4 years and it bloomed beautifully this year, even with being moved last fall...and the fall before that and...etc. I didn't cut it back or nothing, it got root pruned, but only because the roots were so big around and so long that I couldn't get them all up without cutting them.
Good luck!
