I'm in zone 5 (Reno NV).
I have a corridor between my house and a steel fence (one with horizontal bars) that's facing the street, where I would like to put some screening in (some big windows looking out). A simple diagram below. It's facing East.

Fence (6 ft tall, 60ft long)

Corridor (7 ft wide)

Initially I was thinking about vines (morning glory? Clematis?) but then I am concerned they might not work for winter? Then I thought about some shrubs, such as hydrangea, but then I'm concerned they might get too wide. I plan to put in a narrow path (maybe 3ft?) in the corridor.
Ideally, I would like something that has evergreen foliage with some flower to show. And something that would be tall enough to cover the fence (6 ft high) but not too wide.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
Suggestion for screening fence along narrow corridor
Ivy is evergreen in your zone, but can be invasive. Someon posted a similiar question, and it was suggested that they try evergreen bamboo. There were a few more suggestions, but I don't remember what they were...I'll go look, maybe you've already stumbled across the other post....
