I got straight 8 seeds to start in my garden this year...I just read that you can't eat the skin because its too tough...say it ain't so.....

straight 8 cucumber
It ain't so. However, like all slicing cukes, the skin is slightly tough so lots of folks do peel them. They are not as tender as the oriental (burpless) types. Straight 8 is a very good cultivar in its class which includes Straight Nine, Marketmore, Poinsett, Ashley and a number of hybrids. My crop for this year year includes Straight Nine, Thunder and General Lee.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.....I was determine to eat them, peel and all, no matter what....thanks!!!
