Best thing/worse thing and what did you learn today????

Thought I'd post these questions..when my DH was alive it was a tradition that each night before falling asleep we would ask each other:

What is the best thing that happened to you today?
What is the worse thing that happened to you today?
What did you learn today?

It was amazing just how much we learn of each others lives by asking these 3 little questions..we didn't have to always go into detail, some times we did which always gave so much more insight...

So, as I miss this little exercise now that he's gone..perhaps you would like to join in?

Best thing: BIL (boss) said to transfer calls to the house tomorrow rather than do the 100 miles drive in...so it will make for a long weekend...how wonderful..now if it will stay sunny....

Worse thing: Called to see how my BIL was doing and the recorder still has Irene's voice on it..saddened me how I'll not get to speak with her again...

What did I learn today: read a lot of 'prayer request' post to fill in my afternoon... even though many are hurting from their own tragedies of life, all are willing to give support to others..shows we do infact live in a caring world...at least here on DG....

Every day is a good day. Bad days are only interesting ones, or good days with a twist.

Good day: spent the day with my two youngest grandkids.
Spent some time on DG.

Twist: mess in the living room and vacuum cleaner needs repair. I'll giter done.

Lesson: contain myself over certain emotional issues.

our lovely DJM on daves garden passed away today....
Best thing, I have saved enough to get a puppy after my lovely little 'Lucydog' passed away.
What I have learnt.......There is great joy and great sadness in the world, its the ebb and flow of the tide of life and i need to stop fighting against it and just go with the flow!

Best thing?
My cousin from New York popped in for a visit
at my parent's house. Haven't seen him in almost twenty years.

Worst thing?
I was unable to get the work done that I would have
normally completed, I am so far behind and have to go out of town
tomorrow. I now have but three hours to accomplish a day's work.

What I learned today?
That I have limited patience for people who are not resourceful.
Having to ask an adult of young and sound mind if they pursued
all of their options to solve a problem makes me feel like
I'm talking to a log.

The worst thing that happened today was the lil 15 month old i babysit got extremely ill today and could not keep anything down.

The best thing was he went to the dr and only (used very losely) has a double ear infection....only cause it could of been something much more worse for the lil fellow.

I have learnt that some people can be as mean and rude as a snake, and then you see there true colors and what they are really like.

Best thing: The sun came out today after several days of rain!!!

Worse thing: Hearing of my stepsister's latest trouble with her mentally ill mother (her mother treats her sooo badly it makes me sad).

Something I learned: I'm not as hungry for supper if I go to my yoga class first. Hmmm, maybe exercise does help decrease appetite!

Worst thing today: waking up after really bad dreams

Best thing: getting a free seaweed wrap and mini massage at a training session at work today.

I learned: it is hard to reach out but the rewards are worth it.

Best thing today: was hearing that the Doctor thought the mass found in my Sisters mamogram was nothing to worry about.

Worst thing today: Finding out my nephew broke his arm in two places.

I learned I could save $100.00 a month by switching to digital phone service and still be able to keep my ADT service working without having to have a landline. Yippie!

Worst thing: I was lazy and didn't get near enough done

Best thing :I did get to work outside in the garden.

What did I learn:To try harder the next day!

It's hard when you spend the day alone so it ended up being all about me. I didn't even talk to anyone on the phone.

I've so enjoyed getting to know you all...I'll watch this post in hopes that it will continue..enjoy meeting new friends...and Ves522, so nice though that you participated...and it's o.k. for it to be 'all about you'..you are very special and it's nice to let us know your accomplishments and your thoughts, maybe we could add to your entertainment lol...anyway, I do look forward to your comments as I'm alone as well but am active inside and outside the home..always a treat to gab to someone..anyway..my shift (boss gave me today as long as I answered office calls that were transferred to my house) saved me 200 miles of driving today) so I've just prettied myself up (if that's possible) off to painting open house to see what's new and spend some $$$$...talk later...
SEE now I've already learnt that you enjoy gardening...and even if you are tired, you make the effort to work in it..that's nice

Worst...hmmm too hot, best, another day with the greatest man and kids on earth, learned...I learned that my better half thinks banana popsicles look like lime popsicles thru the wrapper. lol

While I was unloading packages into the slot
at the post office, a woman farted in the closed
entry of the post office, then left the building.
New customers came in at the same time I smelled it,
but you know darned well they thought I did it!

What I learned today:
To use the outside box at the post office from now on.

Best thing...met my son in Midland and we both went out to dinner..he's getting to look more like my DH as he ages...

Worse thing...my younger sister had test done and found out she has a lung disease same that took my dad's life..saw her last week at funeral and she was using a walker because her back is so bad and having a continual coughing/hacking so bad she couldn't stop...she said she knew the news would not be the best and she's accepted that there is little they can do...she's 52..too young to be saddled with these types of illnesses...

What did I learn...that I had more will power than I thought I had ..lol..I went to open house and only registered for 3 projects...went shopping, pickup up 4 chair cushions got to till and put them back..remembered that I said I'd stay within my budget as I'm having new roof done and siding and that I'd put all my pennies towards new windows..sooo I'm proud of myself today...there's always tomorrow though...

ooops..The Wonder_Downunder...sorry I was reading Wuvie's post and thought it was hilarious..said 'that's funny' and guess your post came in at same time as I posted mine...hope you don't think that your arguing made me think it was funny...that's how I get into trouble lol...please forgive!

Yesterday's best: finally got my tomatoes transplanted and had a fun night out

worst: running out of time to transplant the rest of the veggies

got me there! Today I am learning that talking about doing something doesn't actually get it done. LOL

Yesterdays best was getting most of my vegie garden revamped with DH's help!

Worst was Ty chewing up the corner of the love seat cushion.

I learned to keep a closer eye on Ty and DH whenhe is helping me.

Best thing about today is I get to spend it with my DH

Worst thing is we spent a fortune at the grocery store

I learned that I could pay for another EB in a month for what I pay for baby zuc's at the store.

Best Thing that happened to me today was having the work crew come in and demolish roof and siding..yuk..looks terrible..guess you need to see the worse before it improves...not a pretty site for sure..

Worse Thing...hadn't anticipated there would be so much rot and a lot of the walls have to be replaced....not good news

What I learnt is don't make a budget excluding the worse...now I'll really have to watch pennies..

Best thing: Realized caffeine was the cause of what I thought
was a major health scare.

Worst thing: Felt obligated to replace something I knew was
not my fault, but was in a position that I had to do it anyways or
reap the injustice.

What I learned: That I'm finished dealing with this person furthermore.

Best thing, spent the day with my oldest daughter, just the two of us. Worst thing - was sick this morning. What I learned-the more I read this thread, the more I like it!

Best thing today: enjoyed a good part of the day enjoying our fine spring weather in our yard with our dogs.

Worst thing today: neighbor's relative (who has been visiting quite often lately) kept trying to start a fight with me while I was out in the yard with our dogs.

What I learned: that I could easily disempower this highly problematic creature from hades by simply enjoying my day.

Best thing....huge composter and garden cart for a total of $9!! WOOHOO!!

Worst, today is the two year anniversary of my longest, dearest cousin and best friend's death. She died in her sleep at the age of 37 totally out of the blue.

what I learned............That the Simple Red song that used parts of the Hall and oates I Can't Go For That is actually called Sunrise...love that song.

Best thing...went to Toronto for my youngest grandsons' '1st communion'

Worse thing..sat between my 2 sons..the youngest is Chairman of Development in a large computer firm that possibly will reap him mega $$$$...the executives were at his work reviewing all the details pertaining to a possible sale with IBM..son has been working 16 hour days for several months now...his son is the one who did his 1st communion..it angered me that he was playing with his blackberry during the service...gave him the " I'm the mommy set of eyes and I'm not happy" but he said it was either stay in communication with the office or not go to 1st. communion...surely, someone can take an hours off!!!! I'll have to say a special prayer for him tonight...

Learnt that getting myself into a tizzy doesn't help..I get all upset and they say 'oh well'...terrible how fast the pace is today..

best thing... loving my new puppy!

what i have learnt?..... you tend to forget the difficult times soon enough and the good shines through.

May I play one time? Best thing...Church was great today. Loved the sermon and the worship.

Worst thing...I planted tulips around my lamp-post last fall and was watching them grow, waiting for about a dozen to open up. This morning EVERY ONE of them was chewed off! I now have a dozen little one-inch stems around my lamp-post!

I'll have to do a better job of marking my potted plants (I have many) for the winter because the ones I marked are fine, but why did I leave so many unmarked??? Also, I need to find out how to discourage rabbits from my property.

Worst thing : We took Ty with us shopping and it was to warm to leave him in the car for long. Had to cut our shopping very short.

Best thing: DS came for a visit and we sat outside in the shade talking! Even DH took time out for that. Was really nice!

What did I learn:That I don't have to help pick rock if I am doing my own garden work and DH will even pick out rocks for my garden. LOL

The best thing: No rain, the sun is out, now I can strip the shakes off the shed side-wall and rebuild part of the fence.

Worst thing: My sweetheart is away on vacation and I miss her a lot, and the side-wall of the shed is 14 ft. high.

What I learned today: Three day old coffee is pretty gross.

I know Betty, it isn't easy. These were two closest family members..not fun.

Best thing, I opened up the bag of my praying mantis eggs and they hatched! Babies babies everywhere! LOl We had fun sprinkling them outside and watching them chase ants, then backing off...kind of like a toddler witha new puppy. lol

Worst...still thinking about the death anniversary....usually takes me a few days to get passed it.

What I learned...that baby mantises grow VERY FAST.

Worst thing: figuring out my patio fig didn't make it through the winter

best thing: Going on a tour of the National Arboretum in DC with a friend I met on DG

Learned: you can't leave a parking garage without an attendent unless you are walking out!

Best thing...left for work this morning filled with sunshine...today we get the permit to side the house and put new design on roof that we just removed...
Worse thing...Township told us that they would not ok the permit...we need engineering study done before it's processed..not so much the money but the additional waiting time it will take and my working 100 miles from home doesn't make things easy for looking after details
What I learnt is: No wonder a lot of people do renovations and house repairs without permits..probably a lot less hassle...
