I've just purchased a zone 6 Home in CT. As with other Homes Built in 1760 it is located to close to a busy road. I hope to plant a privacy hedge along the front, six to eight feet high, to improve the aesthetics and control the road noise. The ideal hedge would fill in within a few years, be evergreen, and dense enough to contain a medium size dog. I'm also concerned about damage from road salt resulting from winter plowing. Privet and Holly are a consideration. Any Ideas would be appreciated.
Front Yard Privacy Hedge
and maybe some rugosa roses, seem to take a little salt, thorns and forms dense thicket to keep dog in most get 3-10' tall depending on cultivar.plus rose blooms.
maybe row of holly or privet then a row of rugosa rose? oh plus they're fragrant. and set hips for winter interest
Thanks Len, I never realized a rose could reach 10'. I'll look into them further.
