slow growing shrubs

Randleman, NC

I need ideas for new home landscaping around the foundation. The front of my home gets morning shade and afternoon sun. Would love slow growing shrub ideas

any of the dwarf conifers like alberta spruce, mugo pines etc.
old garden roses, hydrangeas
holly

Fayetteville, NC(Zone 8a)

Since I grow in the same climate you do, be careful of hydrangeas in full afternoon sun. Mine grow really well in a bit of afternoon shade. Japanese hollies might be a good choice. They will grow in heat and poor soil once they are established and they don't grow very fast.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I agree, I would definitely not put hydrangeas in a place where they get PM sun, only time you can get away with that is if you live in a climate with relatively cool summers. They prefer the reverse, AM sun but then some shade during the hot part of the day.
