Ok, so what's xeriscaping?
Xeriscaping....
It's planting things that (once established) will survive without much in the way of supplemental water. Many people hear xeriscape and automatically think cactus, but that's only true if you live in a desert-like climate. If you want to do xeriscape, the best place to start is to look for plants that are native to your area--they were there before people and sprinklers, which means they can survive fine on your natural amount of rainfall. Then if you can find other areas of this country (or others) that have a similar climate in terms of winter lows, summer highs, humidity, and amt and timing of rainfall, you can use plants from those places too and they should do fine.
Interesting. Thanks again for the info. I never would have guessed that's what it was...
