I went for a walk today along the bicycle path and it turned out to be a "Garden Walk". Came home with two kinds of sedum that somebody apparently just dumped by the bike path, where it took root, 8 nice dry seedheads from some spectacular rudbeckias (probably deliberately seeded. Big solitary clump in the middle of a meadow), 3 bulbils from a solitary tiger lily, more birdfoot trefoil seeds...
Oh and a couple of dead branches just right for staking tomatoes.
I had a great time.
Walk the walk
I went back in our woods last Saturday morning and got one trillium seed pod, a Joe Pye Weed plant, a vervain plant, a monkey flower plant and three little muscle wood/ironwood (Carpinus?) trees. All without a bucket or a shovel! It was suppposed to be a quick walk back and then home again and it only took 2 hours. I felt better than I had in a long time. Of cours, I couldn't stand up after lunch, but it was more than worth it.
This sounds all too familiar! DH refuses to walk with me anymore because he is tired of having to carry home all of my "finds". I have to bribe him now with picnic lunches to take drives in the country and even then he groans that I need to leave the trowel and buckets at home....as if I could enjoy a picnic without them!
Giggle...
We were driving over the weekend and passing a swampy area, I didn't say a word but my DH saw me craning my head to see those pretty white flowers in the marshy area...he said "do you want me to stop and wade through there to get some of those white flowers" LOL. He knew what I was looking at and wanted, LOL.
