Need Help!!!

Wilkie, Canada

Well, I'm not sure just how stupid these questions will be, but I need help and figured someone here could at least give me some idea what to do. We just recently bought a house in a new area. As this is our first time with a garden to take care of, problems with no solutions are arising already. First of all, most of the back yard is laid with small colored gravel with edging around it with soil for flowers. The yard is also lined with blue spruce overhanging the yard. As spring is now here and the snow is disappearing quickly, I am seeing that the yard is now covered in pine needles and debris. My question is, how do I get rid of this to make the yard look like it is clean and landscaped??? Obviously, I can't rake the area as I would rake up all the stone and the pine needles are way too small. Thought of using a leave blower to blow the stuff away, but it just seems to me that this will just blow it all over the garden and will defeat the purpose. Oh did I mention that I have neighbours on both sides of the yard so I can't blow it into their's, that would not make us the most popular couple on the block, ha!! Please someone help!!!!

Some leaf blowers will reverse and vacuum as well as blow, just be careful you don't suck up the gravel too.

we have a summer place that's very shaded, and the previous owner ( we bought it in Sept) covered the yard in those red wood chips. We have many pines and oak... so LOTS of leaves.... we did use a blower to get it into piles so we could pick it up... but i have to say, most of the red wood chips came with it too. Raking would not have been a possibility.

Do you like the small colored stone? Maybe you need to take it all up (gravel and needles) and start over fresh. I would imagine those needles would make a good mulch.
