ok so i get a flyer in the mail today from parks....it was advertising nc farms
....they own it? why am i always the last to know?
Am i the last to know? parks owns nc farms?
Interesting......I didn't know it either. As I understand it the Park family only owns a tiny part of Park Seed now; the bulk of the Park Seed/Wayside operation is owned by a large conglomerate.
well i am not positiev of that...but i get a park seed catalog with them advertising nc farms....; wouldnt think they would just be doing free advertising.....so i guess it is them?
Parks is a broker for NC Farms but I don't think they "OWN" NC.
P
what does that mean?
They're the go-between the grower and the buyer but a few growers will allow you to purchase directly from them, not have to go thru a broker and save money.........If your in the industry, purchasing to grow for resale and have a resale/sales tax id number. This means buying a large quanity of one certain plant and a min.order of trays per box which can be anywhere from 3-8 trays ranging from 32 count to 288 count per tray.
Hope that was clear as mud.*G*
P
i have a tax resale # and am on parks wholesale list....but i also am on nc farms wholesle and retail list....who knows....; thanks for that explanation..do you have mud there? grin:)
I get both wholesale and retail from Parks but only NC wholesale. I call them "invitation to be bad"...really bad"...LOL
P
p ....don't you know...i hate for a catalog to show up....my purse hates it worse...
Who is NC farms?
i think it is north carolina farms...
http://www.ncfarmsinc.com/store/
is their website
So, they are a wholesailer...
i guess that is what you would call them...but anyone can buy from them...
Oh I hate it alright..3-5 hundred dollars worth every spring...LOL.
Yup,I think they sell wholesale to the general public. If you have a large yard or bed you want to mass plant and like to propagate, you can purchase cuttings but you have to buy 100 per variety and a total of 600 cuttings min. order.
P
I looked and did not see any minimum order (as an individual, not wholesale), except that they have 2 tray, 4 tray boxes, etc. and it made sense to fill up the boxes. However, their shipping charges were exhorbitant because they ship overnight on cuttings and 2 day for plugs. For two units of cuttings, total $16.00, the shipping alone was 49.99. Not too realistic for the homeowner.
Whew! That is a bunch. It's a 600 min. on cuttings for wholesale and I don't recall having to pay that much shipping on cuttings I purcahsed in the past.
