I am very new to gardening. So I am still at the stage where most plants are new so if I see something appealing I bring it home.
I purchased two Euphorbia plants yesterday and now that I have done some research I see that they are toxic. Will they hurt my dog if I plant them in the backyard, where she spends her time.
Euphorbia
If your dog is the sort who will chew on plants then I would put them somewhere else. My dog has zero interest in my garden plants (and I never leave him outside unsupervised) so I don't worry about things like that too much, but if your dog is the sort who will get into the garden then I would play it safe. I imagine it probably tastes nasty and she wouldn't eat very much of it, but it's really not the sort of thing you want to take chances with!
I have already decided that I will put these out of her reach. I don't know that she would chew them, but I don't know that she wouldn't. She is a Jack Russell so I am not surprised by anything she does, I try not to set her up for failure.
Thanks for the reply, look forward to learning alot about gardening, I am on a mission to get my yard beautiful.
Euphorbia and Toxin, all Euphorbia's are toxic, eaten you can really suffer and need doctor, also if you brush against them and get the sap on your skin, it can give a really bad reaction, even scar the skin, I grow them but, keep them to the back of my border out of reach, they are lovely plants, but need to be choses with care. I would not take the chance with your little dog if you can avoid it.
