It looks like the dreaded lily beetle to me!

I was just about to ask about that horrid beetle all my liliies just died last summer from their ivasion, what does one do about it if anything

Stamford, CT

what I have done to help control these dreaded redheads is just simply be aware, whenever I see a chomp mark on my lilies (or frittilarias!) I check the leaves over and under, for the red devils or their eggs. The larva are totally discusting and deposit their fecal matter on their backs as they eat away at your fritts, they look like black bird poop. I take a batter bowl filled with hot soapy water and place it under the bugs as I cut the leaf tip they are on off. It is nasty to see them in the bowl sans poo. Ick, blech, gag. Keep a keen eye out for these punks, they multiply like mad. Squish the adults if you can stand it, if not treat like Japanese beetles and drown them.

So far this year I have not seen any on my lilies but am constantly looking for this miserable bugs.
