Can I assume from the bottom of this plant, with the roots coming out, that it needs to be repotted? And, I am also trying to find out if there is somewhere I can take this to be repotted, it is large, and I am a bit nervous to do it myself.
repot?
Lengels: What kind of plant is it?
It does look as though it might need repotting. How does the plant itself look, healthy, stressed? Depending on what type of plant it is, it might be needing a bit larger pot. Those roots look like little feeder type roots to me, but again, not knowing what the plant is? I've always re-potted my own plants, even 6-8' trees, so I don't have any idea where you could take it to have it done. You might call a local Plant Nursery in your city and see if they supply that service. I know my Sister in North Georgia does a lot of business with a particular nursery in her area and she pays them to plant baskets and things for her, but I'm not sure about re-potting.

If the roots are coming out of the container, it's definitely time to repot. As far as someone who you can pay to repot--if it's so big that you don't want to repot it yourself, I'm guessing you also wouldn't want to drag it out to the car and take it somewhere to have someone do it? If that's the case, you might see if there's a landscaping company in the area who would send someone out to do it--normally they do more outdoor maintenance type things but I would think they might do something like this too. If it's small enough that you could get it in the car easily to take it somewhere, then you should easily be able to handle repotting it yourself.
Thank you very much! Wish I could plant mine outside. Sure. Zone 5A.
I appreciate your help!

Can I divide this plant? It is quite large, but it's pretty, and I wouldn't mind another.
Thanks,
Laurie
Most definitely Laurie ... when you remove it from the pot and wash off the old soil, you might see more than one tree in that pot. That's how the nurseries pot them up a lot of times when they are small ... two or three, sometimes even four in a pot to make it fuller. I've found this many times when repotting plants!
That would root very easily too. You can cut off branches from the original and pot them up for new plants. The originl wil bush out.
It really does look like it needs repotting. If you can find a pot bigger than the one it's already in then it will probably be better than than one the same size as the one it's in right now. Also, even if it seems dried out before you repot it(if you're even going to)then don't give it too much water because it might drown it.
