Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

hiya guys,

I've been in double secret negotiations with Dave regarding him coming to the RU, yet there have been some family matters that have kept him offline. Anyone who actually knows Dave could dmail him and try to persuade him further, but he has said if there were another DGRU in the country he would attend other than the TXRU he and Trish host, it would be this one. Maybe a little sugar from Donna, George, and Zuzu would do the trick....lol.

Please add maggiemoo from Texas and balvenie from Washington state to the list of attendees.....wooohooo!!!!

best,
don

Crossville, TN

WOW! Balvenie too!! This is shaping up to be THE RU TO ATTEND!!

Dave & Trish....it would be lovely to see ya'll again! Jo

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Come on Dave and Trish, I`m going to have surgury and be all bandaged up but I`m hoping it will do me good to go and feel the love and if you have stuff going on that is stressful it may do you good in your hearts too. Your the Adam and Eve of this Eden(only with clothes)lol, so come celebrate your family reunion with us. Feel the love guys, you can do a lot of stuff while in Temecula too, fun stuff that will help feel like a vacation from stress. Dawn

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry that I have been missing from this thread lately, but I haven't had much extra time to play on DG. You all know by now that my gardens will be on our local garden tour and I have been working my tail off trying to get many things accomplised around here and to make it all presentable. Can anyone spare a few hours of their day for the next week? I could really use all the extra time to get this all finished.

I promise to get things going here real soon and also to send that "sugary sweet" email to Dave. lol

Thanks for understanding. :-))
Donna

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Is there anything I can do to help you from here, Donna? Make more labels and mail them to you?

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

If I could i would. We are going to Phoenix for the Nascar race this weekend and dh is taking off Thursday to take care of stuff, we are leaving Fri. He is off Monday too and Wed./ I am having breast reduction surgury so I`ll barely be functional at the RU. I have to do my blood work this week in the valley and see my friend in the hospital. I would have really liked to help though.

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Hey, I am not asking for actual help....just borrow some of your daylight hours from you. lol Thanks anyway for you thoughtfulness. :-)

Arlene, I think I'll be fine with the labels, but thanks anyway. Got your dmail last night, I will take care of situation at the RU.

Donna

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

My daylight is your daylight Donna

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I meant that in a kind way , not sarcasticly. lol

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I'm in if you need me Donna, is there anything I can do here to help?

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Sending you a smidgen of light from the south, Donna. :-)

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Dawn, don't apologize. No one takes offense. Especially Donna!

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Oh if that were only true, I`ve seen a few take offense over less. I appreciate it though when people do not jump to the worst conclusion because it is so hard to know people `s sence of humor in print.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Well, it won't happen here. There are no piddly people in this forum. Tell her Donna, Arlene, Mike!

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Dawn,

Me, take offense? Not likely...lol Thank you for the extra hours of daylight!!!!

Louise, I'll be fine really. I just get worked up before any large commitment. lol

During the day, I am outside working on many things and when it's dark, I am inside working on pots and painting some of my faded garden artifacts.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Oh, Donna, you're garden does not need a thing. Don't stress over this!

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

LOL I am with you in spirit, Donna

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

Sending you every bit of "extra"....lol, sunlight from here SoCal, but I'm in kind of the same boat as the weather here hasn't warmed up very much and so many of the tender plants are just kind of languishing in a semi-stunted growth pattern.....It's good for one reason though, the rose garden is a little slower to flush because of the chill in the air and I'm disbudding like a madman so that the roses will be peaking for the RU this year. Plus, it's breeding season, show season just started and....well....I can certainly understand your stress and am also sending you a big, calm hug. I know your gardens will be amazing and a bit hit on the tour along with JD's.

I've been using the same 'layering' technique for Penstemons for a while as I've also had some difficulty with tip cuttings, yet straight or woodier cuttings do take better for me. I've never heard of the BOP either, yet anyone interested in 'Midnight', 'Apple Blossom', 'Firebird', 'Burgundy Bay', or heterophylla should let me know soon so I can take some root divisions of mine and have them ready by RU time.

Good luck Donna, I know you're place will be spectacular!
don

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

OK, here's my BOP, not quite in full bloom, when it warms up it should be a wowser looking at all the buds. Apparently, the color palette differs with soil, location, etc. - but is a combo of pinks, blues, mauves, purples, lavender.

Margarita B.O.P. is the prettiest of pretties...I don't know that a photo can do it justice because the blend of colors runs the gamut thorugh those colors looking like *oil spill* coloring...iridescent.
Sherry

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

You're right, Sherry, it would take a professional to capture it and even then I would have my doubts.

Here's a close-up I took a couple of years ago.

ah ha! So I posted twice about the B.O.P., once on the other thread, thought it didn't get sent..oh well, ignore one or the other.
