Low Light Veggies???

I work in a high school special ed class and we're going to grow a SMALL garden. We have very limited space that gets no direct sun light and we'd like to know what veggies are recommended?

most veggies require at least a few hours of direct sun a day to grow well and flower.

You might try lettuce. There are bunches of different shapes and colors...they might do ok.

Do you have a copy of the Better Homes and Gardens New Complete Guide to Gardening? There's a list in that book of vegetables that can be grown in part shade with details on how many hours of sunlight they need per day, what kind of shade (bright not deep) and so on.

However, if you have no direct sunlight, I don't think there's much of anything you can grow in the way of vegetables. All on this list have to have at least 2 hours of sun a day and most at least 6 hours.

There are plenty of flowers that thrive in shade. That might be a better option.
