Can I drill crimson clover into fescue in the sping in TN, 6a? Is it too late this year?
planting crimson clover
bump... anyone know about this???? I'm wondering the same thing myself... thank you.
I planted a bunch of several types of clover last fall in zone 7b and they all went nuts in Feb-March this year. I've plowed most of it under, but it pops up everywhere and is growing fine. I can't see it being too late at this point... It seems happy all over the place even in my worst soil.
I read somewhere (here on DG?) that crimson clover will take over wherever you grow it. So if you do put it in, kiss the fescue goodbye. I sow white clover into my yard myself, where it's a better ground cover than lawn grass, but not in the least bit "pushy".
carrieebryan: Thanks for the suggestion of white clover to replace grass. I hate grass! Do you have to remove the grass before planting the white clover? Also, does it stay green for you all year or die back in the winter and then come back?
