Since we're in Queensland, be on the lookout for cane toads! There's a place we can trade a pint for them.

Hey gals, look purdy and maybe we can be extras:
THE north Queensland coastal town of Bowen is preparing for a very special role in a Hollywood A-list movie -.
Around a third of the Baz Luhrmann-directed outback epic, Australia, starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, is expected to be shot in Bowen from mid-May.
The epic centres on an English aristocrat, played by Kidman, who becomes the proprietor of a cattle station before World War II.
She enlists the help of a “rough-hewn” drover, Jackman, in a fight against cattle barons who plot to take over her land.
Bowen's role in the movie is to portray 1930s Darwin.
Luhrmann, director of Moulin Rouge, Romeo And Juliet and Strictly Ballroom, announced in December the city had been chosen from hundreds across the country for its deep water port, “gorgeous water” and historical buildings.
Does Nicole need a stunt double (he, he) I could do that (ha, ha)?
Mmmmmmmmmmm, this strawberry stuff is dee-lish (holding glass up) got any more?
WEll....I'm not very impressed with cinema people....(walking away towards the beach)...WHIZ....DARN! DJM....if you throw that "rang near my freshly washed hair one more time...you're going to be sitting on it!!
I think I will try to make some sea salt and kelp skin care product....things like that make you more photogenic....not that I'm intersted in being in a film mind you!! It never hurts to be prepard for anything that comes along though....it could make this trip a wee bit more interesting.
Aha....there's some kelp now...but boiling this water down to salt is going to be a hard job....hmmmm...
Oh 3G's dear....would you like to help me a bit? (hehehe) Jo
Boiling water? I can do that...lead the way Jo.....

what do you think??
stand by.. *sneeky smile*
keep an eye out for clues.... you find the treasure and its yours! (if your the lucky one to find it, keep an eye out for the postie! I will post some clues soon!)
We're out of opal country, so I can't imagine what fun we'll have now!
But now we're in PEARL country! Keep your eyes open for oysters!
Pearl oysters: The Species
Several species of oyster are farmed for pearl production in Queensland, with production dominated by the gold-lipped pearl oyster (Pinctada maxima). Other species include the black-lipped pearl oyster (P. magaritifera), gem pearl oyster (P. radiata) and penguin oyster (Pteria penguin).
Investment Prospects
Queensland pearls are highly valued, and the non-perishable nature of the product increases its suitability for remote regions such as Cape York and the Gulf of Carpentaria. Successful operation of a pearl oyster facility requires considerable skill, experience and capital. The industry faces challenges in locating suitable sites; however, the development of hatcheries and ongoing development of farms in Queensland demonstrates the potential of the industry in the State.

How can this be a deserted Island if we hear drums....Now i used to play drums in High School....and I can tell you that those aren't musical notes...more like a mob. The only thing ...other than chocolates...that would settle my nerves now is some of this newly caught lobster!
3G, honey...has that water boiled down to salt yet...I know it takes a long time to get about a tablespoon of salt. That's a dear!!

here are the forks everyone...
Some fine pearls!
Anybody like goat meat?
Maybe we are on Lindeman Island!
Geologically the Whitsunday Islands are all drowned mountains. Prior to the last Ice Age they were connected to the mainland and would have all been prominent mountains in the area. The melting of the polar caps drowned the valleys between the mountains creating a network of 74 islands of which only 7 have resort facilities. Beyond the resorts the whole area is part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and the uninhabited islands are all controlled by National Parks and Wildlife.
The first European to explore the area was Captain James Cook who travelled through the area on his journey up the eastern coast of Australia in 1770. He passed through Whitsunday passage, a narrow channel which lies between the mainland coast, South Molle and Daydream Islands to the west and Dent, Whitsunday, Hook and Hayman Islands to the east, on Sunday 4 June which happened to be Whit Sunday (the seventh Sunday after easter) - hence the name of the area.
Cook probably sighted Lindeman but he certainly didn't name it. It wasn't until the 1870s that Captain Bedwell, charting the Whitsunday waters in the Royal Navy HMS Virago, named the island after his sub-lieutenant, George Sidney Lindeman. Although other islands in the Whitsundays were settled during the 19th century, Lindeman remained unsettled because the local Aborigines saw it as a vital part of their fishing regime and were prepared to do battle with any possible settlers.
In 1905 Captain James Adderton took out a sheep grazing lease on the island. He established shearing sheds, a wool press, and did much to clear the island and fence it.
It is the oldest of all of the resort islands in the Whitsundays. As early as 1923 Angus Nicolson established a camp for visitors. It was very primitive and it is said that Angus used to advise his 'campers' "Anytime you run short of bread bring me your flour and I'll cook you some damper. If you want meat, then shoot a goat. But don't get shootin' them for sport."
Oooh, I'll have 3 of those, and 2 of these, and.......... beautiful !
Well, it was worth being stranded just for those pearls. :o)
We will look soooo fabulous when we get back. Oh, dang -
we don't have the tools with us for drilling holes in these little
beauties. OK - I'll just make a pouch out of my bandana and
tuck it in my girdle. Yes - I brought my girdle - don't feel quite
natural without it, I'm so used to it.
Now, listen up everybody. I've never heard of cannibals in
Australia, so I think we just all need to settle down here, OK?
However, I have heard of weird cults and gangs roaming around
the countryside, so I think we need to have a plan of defense in
case we run into any undesirables out here. I'm soooo glad
DJM has brought her boomerang along. Now, what else do we
have that we can use to keep us from harm?
Let's see - who knows what? I know a bit of karate and how
to disable someone if attacked from behind. What else .......
Do we have any tools to make a club of some kind - NO, RR,
I don't mean for drinking Margueritas, I mean a large stick -
Sheesh !
OOoohhh, roasted pig, now that is right up my alley (don't worry Three your doggie is always safe with me.) Mahnot, you are a pliflora of information, gald you are keeping us well informed. Those black pearls are awesome!
Back to those drums...any ideas which direction they are coming from? Maybe we should snick up and see what's going?!
AAAAAAH...Those pearls would grace my neck so nicely!! (I better do some work or they won't let me have any pearls)....
OK what can I do? I can spit on the pig.....er....I can turn the spit for the pig....yea...that sounds better.
*whistling ♫Waltzing Matilda♫*
Jo....Queen of the Jungle!! LOL
C'mon Merigold, we got time before that pig's cooked, and I gotta walk off all this lobster and oyster...let's go sneak up on the drum sound...see what's happening.....
I'm game, let's see if the native's are doing a special dance!
ok, lets go look....
ssshhhhh their getting louder.... quiet now.....
Gasp!!! do you believe that? is it just me or is that RR queen of the jungle sitting on a throne???

You....DJM....you have a lot to repent....remember when you had fudge and didn't share with ME!
Oh well....I'm not one to carry a grudge...not too long that is....
Bring some food and drink for my guests!!
RR, Queen of the Jungle
I hummbally fall at your feet for your graciousness.
Okay RR come down from your throne...you are scaring me up there. Now let's see what our feast is tonight...mmm a gardeners delight...citrus, grapes, stone fruits, melons, tomatoes. licking my lips!

I'm still here (waveing arms wildly from down the beach) . I've been walking off that good meal...hey is it time to get bobby up and at 'em again? I'm sure we have not seen all of Australia yet...although I sure hate to leave this lovely little spot!
