Don't know the name of most of these, but they sure are pretty!

But...But... ITS A WEED!!
All the powdery stuff is pollen. The tree's are starting to bloom.

This is why I got several wildflower books. Are you hooked yet?
That fifth one looks a little like a sweet pea, or everlasting pea, that grows wild here.
I don't know about the others, our climate is much colder and we have different weeds. I love them.
I think the fifth one is a clitoria, which is a variant of sweet pea, I think. I think they are very pretty...
X - off topic post, but can you please tell me how you created the second & third photos? They look so intriguing when viewed in the normal thread.
That's Dave's doing .. they apparently are thumbnailing the center of the picture.

If it blooms, it's a wild flower. If it doesn't bloom, it's a weed. = + )
Lol .. if it were only true. When I was growing up in Lauderdale in the 50's (it was a beautiful city back then .. now it's nothing more than an over crowded concrete and asphalt jungle), Lantana and Periwinkle were pernicious weeds! I don't know when they turned into desirable but they did. I still look upon them as weeds.

X,
I can relate to that. Lantana and periwinkle aren't like that most places, and I love them. Sweet alyssum is a valued landscape plant in a lot of areas. Growing up So. CA I spent too many summers digging the stuff out of my mom's flower beds. Someone planted it and it just took over the neighborhood and continued to do so for years. Forty years later, it's probably still there. I HATE sweet alyssum.
Luckily most blooming weeds don't take over like that. = - )
Karen
#1 looks like Chickweed, possibly Stellaria media
#7 looks like a Hedge-nettle or Stachys species
#8 looks like Youngia japonica aka Oriental False Hawkweed
