I am in the process of learning how to use MS Access. I decide to write a program for gardening. After reading the link Software for Gardening I got some ideas for entries. What I'd like is other input.
This program will be primarily for seed cataloging and growing. The picture shows the form headings I have so far. Let me know what other headings you would like to see.

Learning MS Access
Great minds think alike! Or is that fools never differ? ;-) I'm trying my hand at the same thing but with Filemaker on my Mac. I have tried to use a spreadsheet but it was getting too fiddly.
Some other headings that I had in the spreadsheet are:
* quantity sown/planted - handy for planting bulbs, canna's etc
* exposure - sun, shade...
* plant type - perennial, annual, half-hardy perennial etc
* bloom time - spring, summer etc
* sowing method - winter, direct, under lights
* transplant date - so I can monitor growth more closely
I also had bloom colour and foliage colour on the spreadsheet but with a good photograph that wouldn't be necessary. I'm trying to use the database as a catchall that will help me to plan it more effectively (read - not wasting more money on impulse buying and stick gardening).
One other thing I want is to include is "seeds on hand". I find myself looking through the seed catalogues and purchasing seeds that I'd forgotten I already have, but that is probably a seperate database.
I don't sow too many seeds so I wouldn't bother with this, but I would add '% germination'. You want to have a sense of how easy a variety is to germinate. It can be a rough guess.
Thanks .. I'll incorporate all of that. Keep the ideas coming.

Wow - I'm impressed . . . and excited to see the final product!
