Same here - only it's 44 years and it's a comedy.
Coffee time once again
Yeah, really, I would go with a comedy too but it didn't fit the joke. Born in 62 Victor?
Jan 1st, 1963.
Oh. A New Year's baby. Were you close to first?
No - 11:30 AM. My Dad reminded me for years that 12 hours earlier would have meant a nice tax refund!!
Hald a day late and many dollars short!
Another January baby - I'm the 23rd.
DGD was born Jan. 1st, 1999 and was the 1st baby of the New Year here. DMIL's is the 14th and DD is the 15th.
July we do it again.....DD is July 1st, DD is July 2nd, DSIL is the 5th, Niece is the 6th, Nephew is the 10th and DS is the 31st. I'm broke the month of July, good thing all my plants are bought and planted by then!!
They sure come in bunches, pixie!
You're not a baby Anita ;)
I seem to know a lot around my birthday, late July to early August.
but I'm as cute as one!!! ;)
so if we have any questions for Al we should hold them for the end of July??
That's is correct ma'am.
One of my favorite Milhouse lines for you "Not only am I not learning anything - I'm forgetting things I already knew"
this should work out well, because there's no way I can remember any questions until July. takes the pressure off both of us ;0)
Great line if anyone ever tells you that you're overqualified for something - "Give me a second and I'll forget some".
it is somehow reminding me of a cartoon I once saw. An employer says to an employee, "You're not working." The employee responds, "I didn't see you coming."
The ducks came back and brought family!! Our neighbors field, which boarders my wood line has flooded.....this happens every year. We usually have one or two pairs that stop in during this time of year, as I have looked forward to for over 20 years. Well this year they brought the whole darn family......12 in all!! I have counted 6 pairs so far here is nine of them all w/heads in the water.
Nice shot Pixie!
Thanks Dave! I'm suprised it came out as good as it did as I was shivering to high heck!!
Must have been that wind chill ;)
How did you know Al? It was 44 and sunny here today but the winds were 30 miles an hour, chilled me to the bone!
they are so pretty :-) we have one pair on our lake. I'm kind of assuming it's the same pair as last year. they managed to raise a family last year. the year before they built several nests and laid several clutches of eggs that were raided by an uknown predator (possibly a fox). I have hopes they will be successful again.
of course, the geese are back. more than last spring.
Very nice. I hvae alot on the lake, but there is one that hangs out by the parking lot at work. She looks so lonely. The girls say she's there every year. What is the life span of a duck?
My wife brought me home a surprise gift. A redbud. Nice wife!
Anita,
As far as I could fine, Mallards can live to be almost 30 yrs. old. The oldest on on record lived for 29 yrs. A regular white duck, like you see on farms usually live for 7-8 yrs. I had one of those white ducks when I was a little girl. My brother took me to a farm one Easter where they dyed the eggs different colors and you picked one and brought it home. You were supposed to place it under a lamp to keep it warm and when it hatched it would be a little chicken the color of the egg. Because of the dye, most didn't live very long. I got a purple one, brought it home and it hatched,,,,,,but it wasn't a chicken! It was a duck, and he didn't die, he grew big, bit the mailman and raided the neighbors garden! Ended up sending him to a relatives farm where he lived a good life for 7 years.
Dave...VERY nice wife!!
mmmm.pretty Dave!
Thanks Pixie.
Well, I'm sore. I dug up some new beds in the front yard and prepped them with about 6 bags of composted top soil. Planted some pansies, cleaned out some leaves..and then ran out of time before I had to go visit the family.
Today I plan on picking up a few bags of mulch before I go grocery shopping. I think the rain is supposed to hold off until after 5pm.
Get this - yesterday I go out shopping ready to pick up all my prep stuff for my gardens...I managed to get bone meal, some fertilizer, and slug bait but it seems as those no one has composted manure out yet. I guess it is too early here. LOL Normally at this time of year we still have snow but this year is so different. Now I am even ready to get going before our stores are ready LOL
Very nice Anita. I could certainly understand you being sore! Good for you, Dave! Which cultivar? I have 'Forest Pansy' and I love it. I turned on my pond pump yesterday. So nice to hear the water again! Amazing how it brings a rush of animals - they are really attracted to the moving water!
I'm sore as well and all I did was plant a small tree and a bunch of bulbs. In fact, I may actually be creaking! Went to my favorite demo site where the bricks in my walk came from for more worm castings. I noticed that the hold out house is boarded up now and that there are new boxes on the power poles. I have to get all those worms out before they bulldoze them for a parking lot! Going to the worm "farm" I noticed beautiful giant crocus blooming in one of the lots so I came back with my shovel and a bucket and brought hundreds of bulbs back for a girlfriend. Along the way I got daffodils and some tulip bulbs for myself. I also grabbed more stones for my planters and a cedar log that will be perfect to extend one of my beds. I was supposed to be digging the trench to put the concrete rubble from the front walk into for a path along the garage to control the blackberries. Off to grab more worms!
Victor, you went to Manhattan College, the one in the Bronx? I used to live in Riverdale. My son's dad works at Fieldston School... small world! Oh, also, my DH's b-day is Jan. 27, 1963.
Nice bed Anita! You do such a clean job! Will you please come to my house and help? LOL.....
Happy April everyone!
Harper
Harper - Did you know Archie and Jughead?
Anita - looks good - I can just imagine the dahlias in there already.
Anita, Why am I not surprised to see your plot looking perfect? Good job.
Victor, Got my pump going again as a little waterfall. I agree it's a good feeling. My redbud is Eastern Pink. She saw at Lowe's for $17. It's about 8' tall.
So, why is Manhatten College in the Bronx?
Yes, Harper that is funny. I always saw Fieldston kids on the subway. Where in Riverdale were you? Dave, Manhattan used to actually be in Manhattan. I guess they did not like the sound of Bronx College!
Yep. I know that the Archie comics took place in Riverdale. I didn't grow up there, though. Only heard about it once I was living there.
Dave, I always thought it was funny about Manhattan College being in the Bronx too...
Wow, an 8 foot Eastern Redbud for $17!! I got mine when they were 6 feet for $50 each! Why do I suddenly feel ripped off??
Victor, I was on Riverdale Avenue down the hill by 231st St. My son went to Fieldston for two years before the expelled him... They expelled a 7 year old... can you imagine? He's a sweetheart, too.
Isn't there already a "Bronx College"?
Harper
Guess we know yet another reason why Dave47 married Mrs. Dave47 - she is an awsome shopper.
So you were not far from Marble Hill, Harper. For those unfamiliar with it, Marble Hill is a small section on the Bronx side of the Harlem River which is actually part of Manhattan. Expelling a 7 year old?? Crazy.
There is a Bronx Community College, though I don't think it existed when Manhattan moved.
I got my redbud along with 10 other itty bitty flowering trees for a $10 membership fee to the Arbor Society. That was 2 years ago. I gave most of the trees away last year. I have a 7 foot flowering crabapple becoming a natural espalier against the south wall of the house (mixed sun and shade). A small white hawthorne, and a 4" redbud in a large nursery pot in the backyard.
The redbud will be planted in the terrace on our street and next year (or maybe later this year) we will start to develop a public garden around the tree (just have to figure out how to control the squirrels and dogs).
The white hawthorne will also have to be moved. Probably to the terrace as well.
I kept a white flowering dogwood and a crepe myrtle. The crepe myrtle bloomed the first year - very vivid hot pink. Didn't bloom last year, but we relocated to the backyard in a sheltered spot against the west facing brick foundation.
Yep. My son used to go to nursery school in Marble Hill. Marble Hill was physically attached to the island of Manhattan before they re-routed the Harlem River to go right through it. The tip of the island was cut off and joined with the Bronx. NYC history is so cool!
I think they expelled him mostly because some full-tuition paying parents didn't like the color of my son's skin.... okay, they had an excuse. My son hit their son. Of course, no one saw it and the boy didn't even see the nurse about it.... am I bitter? No!!! (yup, sure am, but I'm trying to get over it)
Seandor, I had considered getting trees via the Arbor Society... I'm just too impatient.
Harper, signing off to play Cranium with my now 11 year old son.
