No spring flowers to post yet I'm sorry.

Anita - how's the new job working out? I have my yearly couple weeks off where I 'should' be working on the house.

Great picture!

Al, our geese in NY have 2 legs

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I think they're imagining they're in Fl and they are flamingos.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

We have a lot of geese that stay here all winter. Not much ice left on that lake now.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Strangest looking flamingos I've ever seen. Nice pic Al! Is that supposed to make us feel happy about spring being right around the corner?

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

I have crocus, and daffodils emerging, and my winter sown foxgloves have germinated. The sweetpeas are now 4 inches tall, and I have morning glory germinating in the kitchen. Meanwhile the snow is almost all gone from the yard . . . spring is on the way :-)

Providence, RI(Zone 6a)

Great photo Al!

ROFL, gram ~ our Canadian Geese are of the two-legged strain as well. ;-)

(Zone 4a)

We have a wonderful pond nearby where the geese like to congragate...everyone in the neighbourhood feeds them. They are cute to watch. Especially when they start chasing each other...LOL

Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I love it when they fly overhead in formation, squawking all the way.

(Zone 4a)

I do agree Lorettamar, you can always hear them coming from far off cause they are so noisy. They are amazing to watch.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

I'm going to cheat and cross post, but I really like when my geese come back (not the best pic because I took it from inside)

speaking of your postcardlike picture, my daughter bought this one that I liked.

Lol Al

Grampapa that is a cute photo - looks like the geese are having a highly intellectual conversation LOL

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

excellent pic, Al. reminds me a lot of a moonless night in the Adirondacks for some reason ;0)

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Don't you love when the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks Jan a gram, that's a postcard my daughter bought.

Dave - she has her moments - usually she gets it but says it's not funny.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I get lots of eye rolling from Mrs 47 and my teen daughter. Maybe we have this in common?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I get a lot of 'just ignore him - he thinks he's funny' that only inspires me to embarass them

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

It's our job!

Hey Blooms,,,,,,,,,echo........echo.............echo

I saw Moab on the Weather Channel as the mountain biking capital. Where's your extreme sport pic?

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

Do watch the weather channel special on Sunday. You will see a portion of the slickrock that we play on out here. I have hiked a goodly portion of the rocks up there, before riding mountain bikes became the outrageously expensive hobby it now is.

I AM very GLAD they are stressing the amount of water one needs to drink in the hot,dry conditions we have. Every year we lose a coupla follks who thought one little dollar bottle of water would be enough. There are signs at the beginning of the trails up there to carry LOTS of water, but folks know how much water they are used to using and don't think they need the extra gallon that is reccommended.

The only extreme sport I indulge in is hiking and climbing on the gentler rocks. Here's some C'boys I spotted at their work the other day.
Not as glamorous as a $3,000 bicycle, I guess.

I'll try to catch it Blooms. I don't do any mountainbiking, but I would support it more than similar motorized sports.
Sure looks like rubble - do you have all raised beds?

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

You don't garden up there. It's pretty much mancos clay and not condusive. LOL down here in the valley it's sand. over toward the edges in the slightly higher places of the valley it's more gravely
and up near the cliff edges it's pretty much rubble.

Here's the view where we ended our hike yesterday. We were too late in the day to drop down into the canyon.... had to leave it for another day. Had a grand drive thru some soft deep sand for a short way, got to use the 4WD LOL That's ten mile canyon down in there.

Are you sure you don't live on Mars or somewhere ;) Awesome shot - love the colors!

If you would get some snow you could use the 4wd more often.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Agree! Stunning photo. I am an avid hiker and can't wait to visit there some time.

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

Warning. A lot of the folks that live here came for a vacation.
I came for a vacation, planned a month's stay. Decided to stay until I'd seen it all. I've been here 30 plus years. That's the first time I've been up to Ten Mile Point. Still a lot to do and see. LOVE this place.
AND carry WATER. ~Blooms

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Please don't tempt me any more than necessary! I am increasingly getting fed up with my area for many reasons. The property tax situation is so out of control. How is it out there? Thanks.

Victor

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

That sounds a lot like here Blooms - except most people that live here got lost or ran out of gas.LOL

(Zone 4a)

That pic is just gorgeous.....it looks so peaceful there.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

How was the party, Dawn?

(Zone 4a)

Hey victor the party was great - lots of fun for the adults and lot of fun for the kids. It is now 10.30 pm. I had to crack open a bottle of wine after the party to relieve some stress but I am feeling pretty good right now LOL. I think it is time I go to bed. Woohooo dh is getting up with the girls!

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

It is peaceful up there, until a group of dirt bikers comes by. or those little four wheeler atv s but they are gone and the quiet comes back to those of us who walk. And here's another fellow who was out there walking.

I had no idea Utah was SO beautiful. I absolutely love the colors in the desert.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

You guys have been having alot of fun without me!!! Can you believe it is almost April? That storm on Friday was a royal PITA!!! I'm trying to do some catch up on all my threads. Boy, is it ever easy to fall behind.

The job is great. The people are all real nice. I think I'm going to be very happy here.

I'm trying to keep up on all my wintersowing. Didn't we put in an order to increase the number of hours in a day????

Westbrook, CT(Zone 6a)

No geese but two swans arrived yesterday, found enough open water in the pond and decided to stay awhile. Two other pairs tried it last week, plodded around the ice for a while, then departed northwards. I think their compass must have been confused.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

We had 2 ducks on our lawn this morn. Unusual as we don't have a pond or any open water in sight. Lots of snow though! The lake is across the street and down over the hill, but can not be seen from my yard. I think they missed they're exit!! They just waddled around the yard picking at some left over birdseed for about a half hour before taking off in search of open water.

pixie, missed their exit LOL everything's white...they probably couldn't tell the difference

anita, so glad to hear the job is going well.

blooms, great views! love the fellow hiker.

don, it would be great to get swans. never seen one here. I don't know if this is swan country.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I don't have any snow ;)~

Don - swans are cool, I don't think I have ever seen them outside of a zoo.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We have swans, ducks and geese in a nearby pond.
