In all the books I read it is noted that my zone is 9. When I subscribed here, I figured out my zone online, and it was 9.
Yesterday, when I placed an order online for plants, the company automatically listed my zone as 8. As such, I couldn't have my plants shipped this week, without losing my guarantee. So I called them, and the lady looked me up by postal code, and insisted I am zone 8! I asked her what they base their zonings on, who the source for that is, and she said she doesn't know, other than temperature. ( she didn't understand my question obviously)
If I am zone 8, it surprises me how many zone 9 plants seem to be completely happy here!
So, what do you think, 94960, 8 or 9?
Thank you, Christie
confusion about my zone
Yes - 8 or 9! Just kidding. I quickly searched a few sites and got 8, 9 and 10! Two gave a range of 9-10. Amazing. There was a new map made a year or two ago which bumped me up to zone 7, though I still consider it 6b. Your zip must be right at the border between two zones. Most likely, the sites that gave 9-10 are using the newer map. You're in zone limbo!
Goodie good good!!! Another garden limbo, just what I needed!!! ;)
Now I can grow ANYTHING, since my zone is anything too!
We should all use the sunset zoning, they have a more nuanced zoning! With them, I am sweet 16 forever!
Or put another way, you're In The Zone!!
everybody south of the mason dixon line got bumped up a zone according to usda, however the companys will never get it right or at least itll take some time to get it right, perhaps you can call in your orders and perhaps convince them to send you your plants,,, maybe... everything is in the nurseys now down here and we are expecting 70s all this week and im at about 50% germination as well as 20% ready to pot up oh well at least i can fall back on$savings anyway, i think, {GROW MY LITTLE CHILDREN GROW}!
Bulbhound, what a great set up you have there!
I could order now, and they would ship, but not without losing the guarantee... And that's too risquee for me!
