I have a 2000 sq ft garden Had the soil tested and need 1 pound of nitrate and 2.5 pounds of phosphorus added per 1000 sq ft. Everything thing else is very good. But I can't find this. It all has 10% potassium which will put me in excess. What can I do?

While the excess K will not hurt any thing, You could always buy 10 lbs of nitrate of soda (16%) and 5 lbs of superphosphate (48%) and you are covered. Many feed and seeds will break a bag and sell it by the lb.

Skeeter...if you go to www.espoma.com they have a product that is just phosphorus...no potassium.

I have spent hours (sometimes days) researching what I'm looking for with no results. (I do this on about everything) The I finally go to a forum and have the answers in just minutes! I have several 50# bags of 10-20-10. Will this work? I'm still concerned about the excessive potassium. I have a total lack of knowledge about these things.
How much should I use?

10 lbs of 10- 20- 10 will give you the l lb of nitogen, 2 lbs of phosphorous and 1 lb of potassium. The numbers for N-P-K give the available amount of each nutrient per 100 lbs. That should work just fine. As I said before if you are really worried about the potassium (I would not be) you can get nitrate of soda 16-0-0 and superphoshate 0-48-0 at just about any local store that caters to farmers and market gardeners.
