Sue, so glad they arrived :o) oh I know the feeling, The lady that sent me the Day Lily seeds before is sending me a bunch more and I can hardly wait... I almost have the ones sowed that Dori (notmartha) sent me... I love DL's
The sun is shining bright and not a cloud in the sky this morning. Wish I could get out there and start my beds lol Got up Sunday morning and felt that old fimiliar twinge in my lower right hip and thought OH BOY not now, got to church and was stepping up next to the piano, and gracefully ended up on my butt. so I am moving really slow now. the back isn't completely out yet, but just one wrong move and I am gonna be flat it... I am taking it slow and easy for now.
I am so glad you all enjoyed this swap. I will be taking a break from them for now tho... I know we all have lots of work a head :o) and with each passing day I get more and more anxious to get out side and start. :o) It won't be long and Easter will be upon us and gone. and then and then :o) lol
Well I am gonna go check out some of the other forums, you all have a great great day.

St Patrick's Day Seed Swap-Extra's ETC Part 4
I have been busy creating a new web page, I was wondering what you all think, this is just a test page.
:o) Connie http://conniesgarden.com/home.html
Thanks, everybody, mine came today! Cute packages, and great seeds. Another super swap, Connie!
You did a great job on the website, Connie. It looks really good.
Thanks Diane
I am trying to figure out how to get the text in the center of it now lol
But I am learning little by little..
Nice job Connie, can't believe you WS all of those! lol
Has anyones vitex started sprouting in the H202 solution yet? I'v had mine in there since I got them and no sprout yet. Will someone let me know when they get a sprout, I'm really excited about this plant!
Great job on your webpage Connie. Those silly things are a lot of work! :-)
Belinda
For anyone who got the lemon lime amarillas seeds and the info to start them.
I just wet a coffee filter thoroughly and put the seeds single layer on it. I placed the filter inot a ziploc bag and placed it on the fridge. This was several weeks ago. I would check occasionally to make sure the seeds had not sprouted and rewet the filter under the kitchen faucet while it was closed.
I am now getting germinating seeds and placing them into peat pots with seed starting mix. Hope the rest of their lives go well.
Just thought I would give this tip to anyone who hasn't started them according to the typed directions already.
Running to the kitchen to start mine right now.
Mine are up there too...lol...forgot..I wanted to try..them...wonder how long they take to make a blub?...Does anyone know...?
Smiles..Diana
Sorry I haven't been around much, I have been super busy, I have updated my database, http://conniesgarden.com/WSing.html whew I am tired, lol
I don't think I have got to the lime amarillas yet. I look at so many different names and my eyes cross rofl.
Well now I am off to start super, and I still have loads of more seeds to sow and no room to put them...
Ya'll have a good evening.
Connie
I think it takes just one year to get a bulb on that Amaryllis (a little bulb) but 6 - 7 or 8 years to get a flower form seed.
Suzy
oh dear me...lol..but fun to get it going anyway...who knows...at my age...for sure..lol...but it if fun to try..anyway...
Smiles..Diana
My propagation book says new plants flower after three years. You would be surprised at how fast that goes. I started daylily from seed and just planted them out on the side of the yard and forgot about them. They are now, after three years beautiful peach ruffled ones and plum purple. Just as gorgeous as if they were bought at a nursery. Now after 5 years, they are spreading and look lika any of the others I bought full grown.
My propagation book also says to plant them into individual three inch pots just covering them with coarse soil and sand. You would do this after they germinate and the little white root emerges in the coffee filter environment.
I am not sure how hardy these are, so you may have to winter them in the house. But I am sure Daves has all the information somewhere.
Hi everybody, Sorry I am not around for to long at a time, went to the docs on Monday and have a bad sinus infection and double pnemonia, I am on lots of drugs. First time I have ever had to take an antibiotic for 14 days w/ another 7 day refill... I was really surprised she didn't put me in the hospital. But also very thankful :) I have been staying closed up in this house and sleeping on and off all day long. But I got a really nice surprise yesterday :o), After living here in this house for almost 34 years and trying to get my dh to cut down two cottonwood trees, my neighbor cut them down yesterday *clapping and jumping up and down for joy* :o) That is 2 less trees to give me problems with my sinuses lol. I went out side for the first time since Monday, I had to get a picture, of course lol The first pic was taken a few months back, the other 2 are the ones I took yesterday. The biggest cottonwood was right in the middle of our property lines. John (neighbor) had his wife call me up and tell me he was cutting them down, he was bored and looking for something to do. So down they went.
In the 3rd picture, I don't know if you can see the back hoe or not, but he has out there a couple days ago and dug a big hole so all the water will drain, the dirt he dug up he is going to be placing it (first pic) right there where the water is setting by my privacy fence. I was so tickled when Tabatha told me that, I was wondering how in the world I was going to get that spot built up for one of my new beds I am going to be putting in. I told her to tell John to just dump it there at the corner and I will spread it out myself, because I don't want it leveled, I want like a small hill... So with both of my pleasant surprises, my neighbors totally made my day :o)...
Hope you all are doing okay and I also would like to say HAPPY EASTER, I won't be on tomorro, If I am it will be very brief. Have a good day,
Connie
Connie, my goodness. I hope you're feeling better soon. Don't overdo with Easter, okay? Neither pneumonia nor a sinus infection is anything to mess around with.
Glad you got your long wished for tree cutting done.
Good thing you have all the seeds from the seed swaps to fill up that new bed, huh? LOL
Hart, Thanks I am now starting to feel a little like me old self lol, and thanks for posting that link above.
I did buy 2 - 3 tier mini green houses from maineroses and I like them, I cancelled the one from ebay since the person lied about having it, I also requested a refund, have heard no word from her and have started dispute thru paypal to get my money back. I should have went with my gut feeling and not have placed that bid. grrrr she had to many resent bad feed back... Live and learn. In the mean time I have ordered some pots from a couple different ppl on there, just waiting on to arrive this week and the other is on back order for today or Monday.
Suzy, I just ordered one of those walk-ins, There were a few other things I wanted to get but gonna hold off right now. I joined and it ended up only costing me like 7.00 for membership. Shipping was free when I sighed up.
I love the solar flag lights they have, may order them with one of the 2 $10.00 coupons I will be getting, :o)
I was going to go to Sams club and buy a 6 x 8, but I believe for now this one will serve my purpose. who knows got a BD in Oct and an Anniversay in Nov. I may get one as a gift from DH or he may even break down and build me one (but I won't hold my breath for that to happen lol)
Suzy thanks for posting the info about that, looking forward to getting mine now :o) I will use it as a cold frame for the plants I have started in the house and Lord ladies you should see my house lol As soon as my pots get here I have several things to transplant, my maters oh goodness you should see them. They are getting way big.
LeBug, I really like these ADS, I have the maters in one and have only had to add water once since I started them.
My WSing seedlings seem to be holding up so far in this cold spell we got hit with, but I have lost few poppies and all my morning glories.
even my blue silk ones & milkyway (boo hoo) I have no more seeds for those :(
that really broke my heart. kaykay1010 is suppose to send me some milkyway ones. but don't know if I will be able to get the blue silk ones replaced. I only had a few seeds of both of those and planted them all...
Live and learn, should have brought them in the house when the temp dropped.. But I only have so much space in here.
Well Ladies have a great day, I am going to be doing some more seeds today got a few veggies I need to get started. then the rest will have to wait to be thrown upon the ground :o)
Connie
So good to hear from you, Connie. I had started getting really worried about you. Have been thinking of you often.
Deborah
Thanks Deb
This is the first time I have had dbl pnemonia, and it really put me down, I usually get pnemonia every year, but this was the worst I've had it. my lungs aren't cleared but they are getting there. I can actually breath with out coughing. 3 more days of antibiotics and I hope I am done.
I don't have to use the inhaler as much either. thanks the Lord. I am not a pill taker. and it has really been hard to remember to take them. lol
So how is everybody else doing???
Connie
I had pneumonia along with a bad sinus infection several years ago. Knocked me flat on my butt. I'm so glad you're feeling better.
Do you have a Costco near you? They had the popup greenhouses last year for a very reasonable price. They work just like the popup tents. I'm always in favor of anything that doesn't require me to spend hours putting it together. LOL
As for what I've been up to, this is what arrived in the mail yesterday.
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/711990/ Are they cute or what?
I've sown a boatload of seeds and so far everything has sprouted except the agave leaved eryngium. I don't think there's a problem with that one - just that they need more time.
Connie I got one of the APS to put cuttings in this spring and thinking about getting a couple of 40's they're are sale right now.
My vitex is sprouting :-) Took it long enough in the H202! lol I want a bunch of these to plant around my property line on two sides.
Hart, those little chicks are so cute!
This is FRIDAY the 13th! lol
Oh thanks for reminding me LeBug, its a good luck day for me :o) always has been.
Hart I love those little babes :o) Wish I could raise them here but to many dogs and cats run loose around here and they'd be goners...
I took a peek at some of my containers I put on the front deck and so far they look ok. don't know about the ones in the back. There are some seeds that didn't germinate and don't know if they will, but man oh man the ones that are :-}
Hart I am going to use that GH I just ordered as a cold frame along with the 2 - 3 tier ones I have now. Well as soon as I can anyway. Talk is it's suppose to be cold like this for a while longer. I keep looking out the back door, looking where all my garden beds are going to go and picturing what I hope they will turn out like.
I was sowing some seeds when DH got back from the store, so stopped long enough to cook dinner and EAT, for almost 2 weeks I haven't had an appetite cause nothing sounded good, but when I woke up this morning I was in the mood for burgers, (lol of all things) Told dh I was in the mood for them and even in the mood to make them,So off to the store he went and bought what I needed. They were good too, *licking lips* haha So that told me I am on my way back ;o)
So now I need to get back and finish sowing my seeds... Oh LeBug, I have 3 of the 40 and 2 of the 24... and trust me I will be using every single one of them besides I have already filled I think 10 of the 72 cell pks I bought that came with lids and trays from Meijer. most of those are out side tho with all my winter sowing jugs and containers. The ADS I will use here in the house. Lord i can't wait for the warm weather to come and stay for longer than a day or two...
Well Ladies you all have a great great day.
LOL can you tell I am feeling better, can't shut up roflmbo OKAY I really going now,
Later Taters
Connie
Got a question. Does anyone have a few extra seeds of the MG cardinal climber and also the MG blue silk, I only need a few of each... The cold and frost killed the ones I had :( and I didn't have extra seeds for either of these...
I can send postage for them.
Oh yeah, dh and I will be out of town Friday thru Sunday, will be back late Sunday evening. I will be taking my laptop, but don't know if I will be able to connect to the internet. not sure what kind of set up they have where we're going.
Thanks Connie
Hi...Connie..I just looked though all my seeds..I had a lot of mg blue silk..but..guess what..not anymore..now..I have ten seeds from Jianhua in china..he sent back to me..He grew my Blue silk..in china and it came out with a red like throat..along with the blue..I can share them ...send you 5 seeds..that should work...I also have..some Cardinal flower..is that the same as Cardinal vine?...I grew Cardinal vine before..if you want these I will mail..out tomorrow..let me know..no need to send postage..haha..silly...
Smiles..Diana...
OH YES, thank you. that is them :o)
I had only 4 of the blue silk to begin with and WSed all 4, should have kept two to start in the house :( and the cardinal ones.
Suzy, I ordered that GH it is suppose to arrive today. The only real problem I will have with it, is where to put it. I want to put it up on the front deck for now, would be easier for me to get to. so those stakes won't do me any good. I am going to put all my winter sown seeds/seedlings in it and take the tops off of them. The winds have really been strong here and blowing some of the lids off. I have lost :( a lot of the seedlings due to our temps falling so low... I am going to set the crates on top of the 4" hem at the bottom of it and that should anchor it down along with tying the posts to the railing on the deck. dh isn't going to be to happy about it, but oh well. lol I hope the shelves are really sturdy cause some of these pots are heavy. and will also aid in weighing it down. it will also be in full sun, so I am glad it has plenty of ventilation, Well heading back out side for a bit, got to carry all those containers around to the front them give them all a drink :o)
Have a great day everybody,
Connie
When this was discussed in the greenhouse forum a while back, several people said they used cinder blocks along the bottom to keep their greenhouses from blowing away. If it's really windy, perhaps a large tarp over the whole thing weighed down well? That would be easy enough to remove once the wind dies down.
Diana the seeds came today Thanks so much. will get them started on Monday when I get back. You all have a great weekend.
Smiles Connie
Well Connie..that is good...hehee..fast ...And have a great weekend...recoup...you are sick too much...spring had better come..soon..hehehe...Hubby and I sat on the deck tonight..well...late afternoon..it was great..I hope it will only get better...smiles..
Diana
Well I spent the day cleaning and packing, then transplanted some of my tomatoe plants and got them out in the gh, got all the plants and seedlings in there too and watered, hope they survive the heat for the next couple of days. Will have to finish transplanting the rest of the ones that need it when we get back. i did what I could today and almost over did it.
I knew I would get the sinus infection, I get it every blasted year with inner ear infection, but this year in stead of the inner ear infection, I got dbl pnemonia, I think that had alot to do with me having that food poisoning on and off all year. My immune system must be shot, thats the first time I have had dbl pnemonia, I am just glad I didn't end up in the hospital with it. But I am doing soooo much better, darn sinuses still bothering me, but thats normal for me this time of year. I will get over it some time in June then it will come back some time in the fall for a week or two :(
I am really looking forward to this trip, even tho it is a training program thru our church association. I love Bambi Lake and look forward to walking thru the woods there. It is just sooo beautiful and it will be my first trip there in this kind of weather. I have been there 2 times before, once when I was 15 with the acteens group then again in my 20's as a acteens assistant. and both times was in the winter. So thats why I am looking forward to walking thru those woods now :o) There are usually alot of deer in there. and they have a few places along the way fixed up, well they use to. Will let you know all about it when we get back.
You all have a great great week end. Have fun working in your gardens, I know thats what I would be doing if I were going to be home. Hope this weather just keeps getting better.
Connie
Have a great relaxing trip. Glad to hear you got a gh. If anyone needed one it was you.
Hi Connie,
I was on vacation this past week -- did your greenhouse come and what did you think of it? Don't let your seedlings fry in this heat!!!!
Suzy
Hey Deb & Suzy,
I have one of the bottom vents open and the back one undone but couldn't reach it to tie it up. Gave all plants seedlings plenty of bottom watering :o)
I hope they all survive. Suzy, the GH is okay, had a really hard time with the tent part of it. It doesn't fit it right. but its on there and it is anchored down in case we get some high winds while we're gone. Well ladies we are off, will try to post while we are there but not sure if I will have connection... If not will post when we get home.
Have a SUPER GREAT weekend,
Connie
For those who got the iris seeds we talked about earlier, I have some germination suggestions.
A few weeks ago I put the seeds into a plastic seed envelope and filled it with water to soak them. They are pretty tough seeds. After three days, I picked them out and nicked the hard exterior and placed them all in a very wet coffee filter and folded it over them. I put the whole thing in a plastic sandwich bag and placed it on the window sill above the sink so I would notice them.
They have germinated with a tiny white root sticking out. I am going to place them in a pot with seed starter and place them in a shady spot outdoors. Hope they keep going strong.
I did the same thing with the amaryllis and they now are little green blades of grass like plants.
I need to do more reading about zone hardiness with them before I take them outside to grow on.
Can't wait to see flowers in a few years, for no money spent at all. How's that for a bargain.
Windy, that's what I love about these wonderful seed swaps. I get to try new seeds that I wouldn't have ventured to buy on my own. It's so rewarding to try new seeds, research how to germinate them and then find out that, Yes you Can grow them!
Hi all, hows it going? I am sorry I haven't been around much but I have been really busy trying to get the garden beds done (between rains), so far we have got one plowed and sprayed, got to redo it Monday as long as the rains hold off...
Well I don't know if I will WS again or not, I lost most everything I sowed :( and then I lost my 4 o'clocks, can't find them babies anywhere and I know I didn't give them all away. I would say the cat ate them or the bird, but I don't have any pets lol...
Got me a magnolia tree the other night at Meijer and another Lobelia 'Queen Victoria' to replace the one I stepped on last year.
Well you ladies be praying really hard for me, I am going to be applying for a job on Wednesday morning. We have a new Aldi's store opening up and there hiring cashiers. They start out at $11 bucks an hour so I hope I get it. Not looking for anything full time but if they offer it, I will take it :o) They are also hiring for Assistant Manager, but I don't want or need that head ache, been there done that and don't care for it. lol
Well got to get my Sunday School lesson together for the kids in the morning, hope you all have a great weekend.
Connie
Connie, the 4 o'clocks most likely just haven't emerged yet. They're very late - the last to pop up here. None have emerged here and I'm a zone warmer than you. I expect to see them around the end of May, first of June.
Good luck with your job interview!
I have lots of seedlings from the seeds, some ready to be potted up into bigger pots. I sure am going to have lots of pretty flowers this year.
My other project is my new babies, who are now almost a month old and not such babies.
OH hart those babies are soooo cute :o)
The only 4 o'clocks I WS was the red glow (in march) and they have just now sprouted, its all the other 4 o'clocks I can't find to sow. I had alot of different colored ones (from traders and swaps) I was going to be planting out side and I have lost every single one of those seeds, they are no where to be found, even the ones my cousin saved for me.
These are all the 4 0'clock seeds I had and can't find :(

Thanks I do hope I get hired, since Ken retired, there is no extra income coming in, and there are alot of things that need to be fixed and done around this house and I am getting tired of it not getting done. So going to work to get what needs to be got :o) and pay a few bills off too. AND HE's Driving me crazy lol so I figured a part time job is what I need :o)
Connie
Good luck on your job interview Connie :)
My coral bells and terrellas (sp) are starting to bloom I'll save you some seeds they look kind of rough from the cold weather we had but I think I can get you some seed.
