St Patrick's Day Seed Swap-Extra's ETC Part 4
Thanks Connie :-)
I am so mad, the post lady took Donnas back to the post office instead of leaving it on my porch, errrr can't pick it up until Monday. Any other time she would have left it on the deck where she is suppose to leave them... Oh man is she ticking me off!!! I am really starting to HATE this Post Office more and MORE...
Diane she crammed yours in my mail box, theres a good size tear on the front of it too...
Think it is time to write the US Postal service a nasty letter. I don't trust myself to call them... I really don't like to get this mad. My blood is boiling. Would love to wring their necks.. I think we need to go back to the pony express and let them dodge bullets and arrows....
Connie
Connie, I've been battling with my lazy mailman for years. My mailbox is down at the road, he never and I do mean never even tries to deliver a package. I finally had to go to the post office and sign a release insisting that packages be left at the mailbox.
What he has done is put a pink slip in there saying he has tried to deliver when he hasn't. This has included overnight mail that is supposed to be delivered to your door.
I wouldn't write - go to their website and call the toll free customer service number. The one for USPS as a whole, not your local post office.
Well, there went next day postage gone to waste:LOL: Sorry Connie, I tried to get it to you fast so I wouldn't be holding anyone else up. I'm sorry.
It just makes me mad that she knows to leave bigger size packages on my Deck...
I have calmed down for now. just really irks me and it 54 degrees out... Just wait til there is something she is waiting on, she is going to have to wait and wait and wait for it... I am a firm believer what goes around comes around, and boy does she have a payday coming...
Well Ken and I went to Big Lots, wanted to see if they got any of those mini green houses in and they aren't going to carry them this year :( But they have a bench arbor there I want to get, its made out of steel. But dh didn't have his truck, so will have to get it next week. (He thought I was going to put it in the front yard, I said no way, it is going in the back flower bed. I want to make it a walk thru - I can't wait to get started on the beds in the back). Well since we were close, I had him run me across the street to Meijer, they won't have any of the garden stuff for outside til the 15th, so I have to wait... But I did buy 3 packs of the 72 cell seed kits and some bulbs, I missed out on the president clematises in the co-op so I bought me two from Meijer. I have got to get these bulbs started in pots... I have some other ones I need to get out of the closet and get them in pots too... Just not enough hours in the day and now we are losing one :( Good Greef does it never end... lol
Well after Meijer we went and got grochries, then stopped in Wendys for dinner :o) at least I don't have to cook now... Well while we were setting there, I looked out the window at the bank and flash the temp said 54, we past another bank on the way home and flash 54... It is so so nice out. and I am fixing to go enjoy it... Be back in a little while...
Connie
Hey Donna, don't worry about it, she had no business taking it back, she could have left it on the deck WHERE SHE IS SUPPOSE TO... I really can't stand her, I really and truely can't... I hope she gets fired or transferred... I am not a mean person and I try my best to get along with ppl... But her and I got off on the wrong foot since day 1...
Well all I am heading out side :o) and dh says its suppose to be nicer tomorrow :o)
Loving It,
Connie
Connie, if that was sent overnight, you really have a legitimate complaint. You really should complain. And Donna should be able to get a refund.
I had let the front flower bed and pots go since fall so it was so pretty out today I went out with trashbags and clippers and dug out all of the weeds that had spread on runners throughout the bed. I also dug up several humongous clumps of clover. They had formed gumdrops sized bulbs underground and although they had pretty rose pink flowers--I've been fighting clover for 10 years and wasn't letting a tiny pink flower sway me:)
I accidently pulled up a few baby glads--the shoots were so small and new that I thought that they were blades of grass. I haven't planted glads in 11 years but they are still going strong. I found one last year that had actually pushed through a bearded iris rhizome to get to the sun!
I sent it next day and was told Connie should have it by 3 pm today. It's strange how each postal worker has their own approach to the job. I have one who won't leave packages if they cause my door to hang ajar--he doesn't want someone to take it. I have another who makes sure he knocks if I have BE's or books in the mail. There's another who won't pick up outgoing mail, but everyone else does. Weird.
I just went out and cut back the coneflowers and a few others then went around to the front bed I put in last spring, My blackeyed susans are coming back and a few others have sprouts, can't remember what they are. Man is the ground wet and soggy. I sure hope the ground thaws soon, don't like all this standing water... dh is out in his garage, he is loving this nice weather, won't belong and he will start getting up at 5/5:30 just to sit outside, drink his coffee and meditate :o)
Well I am off again. got some seeds to sort thru and figure out which I want to start in those cell packs I just bought. Lord knows I have the seeds too and some of them will have to wait a while... Now to wade thru them... You all have a great night,
Man time changes tonight, I don't like loosing an hour :(
Connie
If it is next day mail, they might even deliver on Sunday. I have seen them in my neighborhood on Sunday and I'm assuming that is why.
My maillady is a ding-a-ling who is very likely to leave our mail in someone else's box or leave us mail with a different address but similar name, but she always puts our packages and large envelopes on the front porch out of the sun. I'll keep her!
Ladys just wanted to give you the heads up, Mendy (mgh) is doing another messenger & seed starter
co-op http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/700450/ If you have never used it, will let you know right now its great stuff :o)
Well I am off to bed, will tty'all tomorrow sometime,
Nite, Connie
Connie
Sorry that I haven't added a note to this forum....just found it!
Please don't worry about getting the parcel back to me on time....and anyhow - I have just received two parcels....one from Florida and one from the UK - both took only TWO days!
So please don't pay anything more to try to get them here sooner, nor for confirmation etc!
Anyhow....I'm really exited...have to go and plant the seeds from the UK - the parcel was from Chilterns seeds.
First time I have ordered from them. Although each individual packet is relatively cheap I ordered quite a lot -which makes it expensive to order seeds!....now I remember why these seed swaps are so good
The little blighters better show....or I'm not playing the paying game anymore!
Hope you all are well
Sue
Hi ya ALL, and good afternoon, I am sitting here waiting for the post lady, she better bring that package! I am still in my PJ's lol. will probably be in them til tomorrow morning... DH and I both had a really rough night last night and didn't get up til 10 *oh my* (blushing) lol I am usually up by 6/6:30
Hope you all get a good laugh from this, Laying in bed last night (earlier hours this am) I heard a small thump thump thump by my night stand, I was just about a sleep to, so I laid really still eyes wide open, next thing I know I heard something on my pillow, I grabbed a hold of it and slung it in the air and turned the light on. It was a little mouse and have no clue where in the world it ended up. But dh has the mouse traps reset.... my heart was pounding 90 miles an hour... Wonder what that mouse thought of it's ride rofl
Connie
hehehe Connie....bet that did give you a scare.. I am that mouse had a ride of it's life...good luck with catching..it...lol....poor thing..knew a good thing.....Warm and toasty... ahaha..
Smiles for you day...Diana
Ok got the other envie and Donna you shouldn't have sent it that way, I feel really bad now :(
But the reason they wouldn't leave it is because I had to sign for it....
Donna you did a great job on the seed packs, really really cute :o) and dang it, I for got to take a picture of yours b4 I did all the envies up :(
But the envies are all ready for the mail for tomarrow, and you all are in for a treat :o) can't wait to read all the results *grinning big* Some of you have lots of seeds due to the extras you asked for...
Also if I missed someones extra seeds that I promised you, dmail me and I will get them out to you. But I think I have everyone covered...
For those with confirmations coming to you, I will post them tomorrow as soon as I get back from town. I will be going over and spending some time with my dad too so it will probably be sometime during the late afternoon...
Well I am off to go start supper, having Taco Salad *YUM* lol

Connie, years ago, when I was a kid, we had a whole house fan in the ceiling upstairs. It automatically cut itself on when it got hot enough and had louvers that opened and closed automatically too.
I hear my mom in the hallway fussing about something, open my bedroom door and here's Mom with a broomstick, poking at the closed louvers because she heard a mouse scrabbling around up there. She hits the right louver, the mouse comes tumbling out and falls down through the neck of her nightgown and out the bottom onto the floor. She promptly stomps it with her bare foot. It was a reaction, not something she intended to do. LOL
ROFLMBO @ hart
Hey Connie ~ here is what worked with my mailman.............and believe me he is a pain in the rear section, for sure ~ I decided two years ago, that one of us was going to have to change and the chances of it being me were super slim (lol) so I have literally killed him with KINDNESS! My Mim used to tell me years ago how well it worked and I'll be darned if she wasn't right.........it urked the pooh out of me to do it for a while, but now I snicker all the way back home! lolololol :-) Give your mail lady a try and see what happens!
I am still laughing at your mouse story by the way - - - - poor little fellow! Gave him a serious heart attack, I'm sure! And hart.............roflmbo what a hoot!
Thanks to Connie for a great swap, a super, super smooth swap I must add. I appreciate it lots. When are you hosting again????? I'm certainly signing up! ☺☺☺
Belinda
Isn't it funny about the mail delivery people. We get along great with our mail lady (gave her Christmas gifts the years I really traded a lot and got a lot of mail). Last couple of years haven't really had the money.
Sometimes a little buttering up does the trick.
On the other hand, my Mom has the same carrier and she hates her!! Go figure!!
Hart I am roaring about your mom and the mouse!
Connie thanks for all your hard work with the swap. I am looking so forward to checking the mail in a few days!
St. Patty's day arrived..today...wowowow...all the cute ways to decorate..so nice..it was cool...for sure..hehehe..thanks everyone for your seeds..and thanks of course to Connie..for doing such a great job as usual..hehehe...Got to leave for the day..but..I can look at all again..when we get home..hehehe...then will have a blast again..hehe...so fun...Waving....smiles..
Diana
Great Diane glad you got them :o) Have fun today...
Okay I got a picture of everyones but Donna's :( I was in a hurry to get them all out lol and for got to snap a pic... Sorry Donna, But you all will see the cute seed pks she did when you receive them... She always does such a great job on them, I still have the seed pk she did for the last swap :o) so artistic.
Enjoy, Connie
OH NO! Now I have to look forward to more seeds to start. Such a drag! NOT! I love it.
Ok, Connie, on to the next holiday. LOL
LOL Windy, I am taking a break from swaps for now, May consider doing another one in a couple months time tho :o)
Got lots to do to get my garden beds started... Seeds to sow and well you all know what I mean rofl...
Oh Happy Day,
Connie
I know, just kidding. It takes a lot of work and patience to do one of these things.
Thanks again for making this St. Paddy's Day special.
Wow! Got my swap envelope today, and I am just overwhelmed. I haven't even gone through it all yet, so I know there is so much more fun to be had. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your generosity and for making my first swap so much fun, and such a great learning experience. It has been such fun to get to know everyone in this way and to feel so much more at home at DG! Connie, thanks again for hosting and encouraging me to participate! Elizabeth
Thanks Elizabeth, I have a lot of fun doing these :o)
Well I went back out to Meijer to see if they got the minin greenhouses in just to find out they are not going to carry them this year :( errr wish they would have told me that last week when I was there, same as big lots, oh we should have them next week and went back and they are not going to carry them any more either, grrrr
So while I was at Meijer, lol I seen something I couldn't pass up. I now have an angle for my garden bed :o) and I hope it works, I have it on the front deck charging up. I took two shots front view and a side view.
It is sooo cute.
Connie
I'm looking forward as usual to seeing what everyone did and sent:) Thanks for the nice compliments about the decorating--I wish I could say I make plans for them to turn out how they do but I never know what I'm gonna do until I drag everything out and see what I have to work with:LOL:
Connie, as always, great job and thank you for heading up such great swaps!
Donna
Nice angle, Connie. I like the angel too. LOL
Try Sportsmans Guide, Overstock and Harbor Freight Tools for the mini greenhouses. I actually got a pretty large one, not a mini, from Sportsmans Guide several months ago on sale for $29. It's not on sale any more but it's still not that much more than the little bitty ones.

They have some even smaller ones if you do a search on their site for greenhouse.
Also, if you get the Thompson and Morgan catalogs, they have the patio greenhouses for $44 if you buy anything else in the catalog.
Connie
The picture of the seed packets looks amazing - just thinking how everyone must have worked really hard!
I did a simple design....but even that took me ages (not very good at crafty things)
Really looking forward to seeing what everyone has done
Ireland is getting ready for the big weekend....usually lots of "merryment" - and of course, the street parade
Its only a tiny one...The nearest town, Westport is only small - I'm sure there will be bigger celebrations in a lot of towns in the US!
Thanks again for organising
Happy St Patricks Day to everyone!
Sue
Willow and Spike, I especially liked your packaging. It made St Patricks Day feel very official having that picture! Thanks for sharing your seed as well! Elizabeth
Connie,
I just bought this one that hart had the link for
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=329264
I mean I literally just got it; we put t up tonight! I would say it went very well and it seems sturdy enough -- although I've heard it's real easy for them to blow over.
I love that it has 3 shelves on each side (will keep it weighted down better) and is a walk in wiht only a 4 x 6 footprint. Oh, and the description doesn't say, but it does have lots of vents for those hot days in spring.
Oh, and I got my seeds today! What a fat package and an incredible assortment. Thank you everybody!!!!!!
Suzy
wow what a pick me upper today when i went to the mailbox, and then i opened it it was even better lol
thxs everyone love the packaging and the gifts as well cant wait until i can sit down and really go through them thxs
im ready for the next one
