I have no idea if I did this right but the last thread was a bit long so here we go again:LOL:

Oh, my seeds are packed up and ready to go out tomorrow. Sorry for being such a procrastinator ;) Just like in school, always doing my homework the night before it was due:LOL:

Dmac, make sure you d-mail Connie the link to this thread so she'll know about it.

This is a continuation of this thread

I will dmail her right after I get off this post...just had to get the new thread listing so I could make a link=) I finally broke down and got DSL so I can really relate to the dial up dilemmas!

Hi! I made it to the new thread!

Hart, I'd like the African Daisy and Vitex, please....have you grown the African Daisies before? I haven't. Do they like hot summers or cool ones?

Suzy #22

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Got you all. I haven't grown the African daisies before, Illoquin. I saw some at the garden shop last year and thought they were very pretty. Since they're from Africa, I would imagine they like a certain amount of heat. Here's a website with all kinds of information about them.
http://www.osteospermum.com/index.htm

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Thanks Donna for the thread! ;-) If I would quit being in coops and buying plants and seeds I could afford high speed lol Gotta cut corners somewhere! lol

Suzy, I tried to grow the afican daisy one year and had the worst time with them, it was the first year for growing underlights for me so don't know if it was just because I was begining under lights or what but everything else did good, seems like it was something about watering them from what I remember, I always water from the bottom and let them get a little on the dry side, once I got them outside they were drought tolerant but I only got two out of a whole seed packet. I might just try to grow them next year and see what happens, you have a greenhouse don't you, they should do good for you.

Dublin, TX(Zone 8a)

YEAH for the new thread............I'm still on the good 'ole "turtle speed dial-up" out here in the boonies and it takes forever for those long threads to come up! LOL :-)

Shenandoah Valley, VA

LeBug, did you surface sow those seeds? African daisy needs light to germinate.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

You know it's been a while, I'm sure I went with the directions lol I just love them they're so pretty!

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Doe anybody know how to sow the beautyberry or the vitex? I figure about 1/4" but really would like to know for sure, getting ready to WS some more, have 62 out there and lots more to go! lol

Shenandoah Valley, VA

I always put sowing info on the flower and shrub packets, so you'll have some info on the beautyberry and vitex. I didn't on the buddleia I think. You're on your own with the vegetables. LOL

BTW, LeBug, I tried to crack open those tiny butterfly bush seed pods and I couldn't tell what was seeds and what was chaff, so I just sent you the pods.

I've found hardly any seed packets will tell you if a seed needs light or darkness. A lot won't tell you if the seeds need cold treatment either.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Hart,
I know these seed places really need to get their act together don't they? I ordered a dwarf crape myrtle from parks, check it out if you have their seed catalog, and when I got the seeds on the back it says there are bigger ones in there too! Isn't that false advertisement or what? Maybe I miss read but .....They were called supersonic. check it out and let me know what you think.

On the butterfly bush seeds, I just take the pods, crush them and then plant the whole thing sprinkleing them over the dirt and pressing down, easy as pie to WS, in the spring you have a jug full of babies! Mine bloom in a 5" pot when they get root bound so I can tell what color they are. I really appreciate the seeds :-)

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

Donna thank YOU... I was going to start a new thread b4 I left and just didn't get the time too..

Well I just got back about 30 minutes ago, The funeral home was packed Sunday. Had to be at least 500 or more there. The funeral Service was beautiful with about 100 or more in attendance. They gave him a grave side gun solute and set off about 25 Red, White and Blue Balloons. Had never seen anything like that before...

I am glad to be HOME... But I do ask that you remember them in your prayers. Donna and her girls are really taking hard.

Oh, we're only at Part 3!=) Seemed like more than that:LOL: Glad to see you back and you're welcome, anytime. Sorry about bringing up the rear on the mailing--I don't know what I was thinking!

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Now that my evelope is gone all kinds of St. Patrick things are out! Saw all kinds of stuff at wally world yesterday, I was tempted to buy for next year but my cart was full lol Plant lights! oh yeah!

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

Oh I know Lea, I seen a bunch at several different stores and even at craft 2000, but I already had what I was getting..

Donna I don't know how long it takes things to get to Ireland, but it takes 10 days to get things to England when there isn't a holiday. I am not sure if i can pay extra postage to get hers to her in time for the holiday, but I do plan on checking into it... Hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg to get hers to her in time.... That is why I set the final mail in date at March first... so I could have them in time to get them all out to every body... With the way the mail is, I think I should have set it earlier... Seems like they take longer and longer to get the mail thru any more.

Well I am gonna get off. I am tired... Think I will take a little nap, can hardly keep my eyes open.

Connie

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

If you don't use all of the postage in my envie Connie you can use the extra to send to Ireland.

Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)

You have extra postage from me too, to use as you see fit. :-)

Susan

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Connie, mine was finally mailed this morning. So sorry for the delay. There's no place to buy ink for my printer around here so I have to mail order it and the darn thing doesn't give any indication when it's running low. You have ink one day, no ink the next. And I didn't have a car until today.

LeBug, I ordered seeds from Park about 3-4 years ago that were supposed to be a mix of bleeding heart amaranthus. The entire pack was the amaranthus you grow for grain. Of course I didn't figure that out until the darned stuff had seeded and self sown all over the place. I'll be pulling amaranthus seedlings out of my garden for the rest of my life. grrrrr

The same year, I bought a plant of what was supposed to be Angelica gigas from a nursery. It was cow parsley, which self sows like the weed it is. I'll be pulling those junk seedlings for the rest of my life too.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Oh my gosh hart hehe at least you will have something to do the rest of your life he he he I wonder where those seeds came from, surely they didn't sell them, I got a weeping cherry tree out of some yarrow seed one time from Gurney's, didn't find out what kind of tree it was until I had gotten rid of it, well I had dug it up and was too late to plant it back, I really did a job on it lol I had it planted too close to a garage for a tree, right after I chopped and dug it out a friend came by and asked why I did that and then told me what it was, I was sick! When I iplanted it I didn't know it was a tree, just looked different than yarrow lol

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Don't understand, LeBug. They were selling the seeds - I bought them. I don't think they have that mix in their catalog any more.

The other plant came from one of the best nurseries in northern Virginia. I'm sure it was the fault of the supplier and not the nursery but I'm still leery of buying from them.

You know, you expect strange little plant surprises from a place like Gurneys, which has a pretty lousy reputation. At least Michigan Bulb has cheap prices to go with their junk. LOL But I expect better from places like Park and the nursery where I bought the plant.

But at least it was a nice surprise. I'd much rather have a weeping cherry than a yarrow. :>)

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

Joann got your box today.

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

Got a strange request rofl, Who ever it was that sent the cute little leprechaun would you please dmail me

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

Well the mail lady ran around 1pm and no envies so maybe tomorrow.
She doesn't really care much for me, cause I complained about the way she is. But if she had been doing the job the way she is suppose to, then there wouldn't have been any reason to complain in the first place.

So how is everyone tonight? Me I am doing ok, I got a few more pots planted and still have more to do, sure wish I had a GH even a small one. also wouldn't mind having one of the 3 or 4 tier shelves with lights. I did manage to order a few of these http://www.gardeners.com/APS-24/default/StandardCatalog.APS_Cat.32-574.cpd and these http://www.gardeners.com/APS-40/default/StandardCatalog.APS_Cat.32-572.cpd today. Going to start my veggie plants in these. I ordered 3 of the 40 and 2 of the 24. Didn't have to pay shipping on them either. If you order $ 50 or more its free shipping with a code. If you want to order dmail me and I will send you the code.

saved my self almost 13.00 in shipping fees with it. :o)

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Connie let me know how those aps work out for you I've been thinking of getting a couple.

I hit the recycle place today and got three big garbage bags of jugs need a lot more, I'll be busy this week lol I only have 72 planted so far.
