Fast growing groundcovers

I am looking for a fast growing groundcover to put on a slope. On the slope 1/2 gets full sun while the other hlaf 1/2 gets partial shade. Luckily both halves are seperated by a step path. I would like something that blooms to add interest to the area. Any ideas?

when i was on my quest, i did find that most if not all fast growing ground cover falls into the evasive category.

and i've also seen some ground cover with a height of 6-8" -- where i was looking for 2"

does any of that matter for you?

I also went to different sites and browsed "ground covers" to get ideas

I ended up getting 3 different ones; woodland phlox (more for shade) and variegated vinca (can be evasive) and sedum k. variegatum

though i was looking at Sweet Woodruff, Dichondra (silver bells?) Golden star, thyme and a few others.

If it is a steep slope, Crown vetch is good to prevent soil erosion. (very invasive though) otherwise, ajugas are nice, 'Burgundy Glow' ajuga is one of my favourites for part shade. It has purple and pink tones and a blue spike flower in spring.

Honeysuckle is also a flowering vine that will grow quickly, is not expensive, and can handle a variety of sun amounts.

I have variegated vinca and I am ripping it all out this year as it is getting very hard to keep it were I wanted it. How about creeping lemon thyme? That is what is in this pic.

my vinca will be in part shade and i need it to fill in a large area. I was told that in part sun/shade it shouldn't be as invasive.

I would only plant it on the sunny side, ajuga would look nice on the shady side.

Thank you tcs, yes it does flower( I will see if I can find a pic) but it is small and not for very long, but it is evergreen for the most part and if a spot dies, I just take from an edge that i am cutting off by the pond and replace the dead spot.

My vinca is in part shade and it is winding in and under my river rocks, and they are very strong vines so I am going to take it out along with some ivy andcreeping rasberry that I should have known better to plant. It has only been growing 3 years so it should only take me about all of 1 day to get it all out. This pic is a close up of the lemon thyme in bloom.

i was looking at ajuga too - i have another place to plant it - so i will still have to decide which variety i want.

this is my first year trying to really "plant" on some state property behind my house

we'll see how it goes. but i want it to look "prairie-ish" but to fill in a lot of the ground with a fast spreader.

If it gets out of control, i can dig up parts, or all of it, and move it elsewhere.
