We have 12 grape vines planted on our front field. Had never trimmed them up. Some of the cedar posts were decaying and had to be replaced. Replacing the cedar posts was not a problem. What was a problem was cutting the overgrown vines. That was a real pain in the tush. If none of you has ever done that or you are thinking of planting grapes, every 2 yrs. trim them back. I hope that we get some grapes this yr. because we trimmed them way back and they only flower and produce on new growth. Left new growth at the top, but trimmed everything else way back. Got a lot of vines. My DH is drying some of the bigger ones out to use in his BBQ grill. LIZ
Trimming grapevines
Liz,
I believe those trimmings can be rooted, but I suppose it depends upon the variety. They would make good trading plants for the Mid-South RoundUp in Tupelo 5/2

PS We've had a change in plans and will not be attending.
