I'm only on page 5 and already LMBO! I think most of us can relate to William Alexander's gardening obsession. I got mine used from amazon for cheap, in case you are in the mood to read a great book. Tamara

I am so sorry. I thought that I was starting a new thread and instead somehow I got it attached to your thread. I will see if I can delete it (or edit it out).

Sorry,

I don't think any of us have read it. I've put it on my list of books to look for though. :)

Hi Tamara,
I've read the book and found it a fun, quick read. I related to the problems he had with contractors, especially the backhoe stuck in the mud. I had one sitting in my driveway for weeks when the operator decided to go on vacation. But when the author spent a chapter on his spread sheets for the real cost of his garden I dozed off. Similar in concept, old house and garden to establish or repair, are the books by Beverley Nichols . He is totally outrageous and funny. He's British and writes somewhere in the 50's. "Merry Hall" and "Down the Garden Path" are the titles of two I can think of offhand.

I haven't gotten that far, so I hope I don't get bored too! I also ordered some more books: Garden Lunacy: A Growing Concern, Slug Tossing: And Other Adventures of a Reluctant Gardener , Chicken Soup for the Gardener's Soul, and Garden Madness: The Unpruned Truth About a Blooming Passion. Plus, I dug out all my gardening magazines and books. At least if I can't be in the garden, I sure can read about it! :-) Tamara
