Dan,
You have dmail.

A "Get the word out about DG" contest?
How about I create that forum I was talking about and we can move this conversation over there?
dave
Good move. We'll be watching for it.
No, no offense taken, Dave. I can understand the desire to keep DG autonomous. I'm glad that is the intention.
Oh, now...Home and garden shows, that's a great angle, Diamond Dan. I printed up some business cards with DG info on them last year and gave them to the vendors I knew at the local farmer's market. I try to keep a few handy in my purse for times I discuss gardening with people or tell them about the friends we've made here.
I like the garden market idea. And the idea of always being ready to give out the site name.
I'd give that a try. Maybe my local paper would be interested in an article. watching for the new forum.
GW...didja use the DG logo on those cards? I downloaded the file but see it is an .eps file; it keeps asking me what I want to use to open it...I have no idea. Word? Some other file?
I have the DG handouts I pass out (best to take them to a copy machine for extras as it uses up all my ink!) I really need to add "Meet you at DG! Horseshoe."

sorry about the delay replying to the point I raised. It is true that the forums are open to everyone - but I think Yuska is right, most people stay in their local, specialist groups. If that is the case - than I think it is important for Dave, or someone in the admin, to go across and alert people in the other countries about this effort. I would welcome a larger base in the European thread. Just a request to be proactively inclusive, since that seems to be what you are trying to do by spreading the word. And I think it might be quite a large growth area.
The international focus is an ambitious project that I'm excited to tackle. We've been zipcode oriented since the beginning and I want to completely change that so that even those in the remotest areas of the world can have the same features as those in the U.S.
I think a separate forum (or at least thread) for the discussion of internationalization of DG is called for. It would give a central place where can talk about it - and there is indeed much to discuss.
dave
Indeed there is, Dave :~) Watching for the new forum. The changes in DG since you now have the time to be back with us are soooo exciting! Appreciate all you're doing to make DG better. It's the best place on the web to be(always has been)and now you're raising the bar, again, for any other site trying to keep up!

Thank you.
Shoe, the file format can be opened with Paint Shop Pro. I have it and can convert it to PNG or GIF for you - they'll be on transparent backgrounds. Dave, would you like the graphic in those formats for people do download? It might make them more accessible to users who want to do cards or other promotional flyers using it.
Kimberley, that would be great if you could do that! I have those files downloaded too, but I can't open them!
I'll post in the new forum. :)
