romain lettuce-is it still good?

help....i went away on vacation, to come home to my romaine lettuce had grown 2 feet tall and had flower heads. The person i had watering my garden didn't know what to do either. so....is my romaine lettuce still good? what parts if any are edible? help... i noticed that the flower stalks had a white liquid when i cut them off.

It's not edible anymore. You'll find it extremely bitter - best to forget about it.

Lettuce bolts to flower like this in response to lengthening days, so there is nothing that could have been done to prevent this.

Now, you can let those flowers open and within 2 weeks, you should be harvesting seed! That's my recommendation. :-)

I've had Black Seeded Simpson lettuce bolt before. I cut it down with a pair of shears and had it come back in 2-3 weeks and it tasted fine.
