New Caney, TX

i have an idea of what i want in my landscaping. the front yard i want a country cottage feel and the back will be my private paradise. first the front. i pretty much know i want bulbs, shrubs, lantana, roses, etc.......what i need to know is what to plant that in the winter my yard is still inviting. does that make any since? any help is welcomed. thanx.

do you get cold enough to lose leaves there? then you want some evergreen. esp around the house it's pretty standard. also, you should be able to find plants etc that say they have winter interest like berries or bark. I leave my ornamental grasses in landscape until late winter, then ccut them off.

Its a good idea to use plants with different coloured bark. Yellow twig dogwood or red twig dogwood (if they grow well in your zone.) Weeping trees have interesting wood outlines and corkscrew hazel (Or HarryLauder's walking stick) has curlyQ brabches. Can't get much more "groovy" than that

I'd look around your neighborhood, and see what is looking good in winter elsewhere, then make a list. If you need help identifying something you like, just post a picture for us!
