Texas Statewide Roundup-April 28, 2007, College Station

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

CJ will there be a bed and donuts for me? LOL
I hope! I hope!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I won't be going to CS for the fall one either. I make the one in N. TX in the fall and go to CS in the Spring. After I retire (next year) I might go to more! :-)
I loved your pictures from last year though. Hope you all have a great time.

Oh, Blue_eyes.........

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

See - we're getting this big split-off. People are going south for one in October, and then there's another one north. They just had one in Southwest Houston, too. I vote for one in CS, 'cause I'm not going north or south, and I was planning on it. But how many others would go to CS?

Yes, Sandy. I would have a bed and donuts for you!! But this time we might take your truck!!

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Lol.....here I am! (As I crawl out from under a mountain of papers and lab work....) I would love a fall RU but this fall semester will be a busy one for me. I've got class, lab work, surgeries, and possible TAing. Perhaps if we start planning now I could get a jump start?

Did anyone ever check around to see if there might be a cheaper pavilion that would be okay? Seems like it was pretty expensive, if I'm not mistaken. My Scotch blood kicked in here...if the others just want to stay with the same one, that's fine too. And maybe some others could help Kim out with parts of the planning, etc.? If there is anything I could help with, I'd be willing to do it.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Dallas is Oct 27, South Texas is Oct 13. So how about October 20? And then we check to see how many will come....

I still think the South Park Pavilion is the perfect place. Covered, plenty of room, tables and seating, bathrooms, clean... And I don't recall that it was expensive.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

It was something like a couple of hundred.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I believe the price for the pavilion was $350.
I will not be coming in the fall, too many things going on, but I will continue to go in the spring.
Josephine.

$200 plus a $100 deposit which is refunded back a month or so after the event.

The deposit is actually now $150.

Did the ones who put in big sums last time recoop from anyone some of the funds? This time I think maybe if say I am going and this early maybe figure out the number of people the last 2 spring and 1 fall and get the average and divide it out. Maybe if s few pay the deposit because they get it back. That is if anyone could. And the rest of us pay so much each like 4-5 dollars. What ever is good and if at that amount you can't come it would not be that much not to get a refund.

Just a thought because I wasn't sure if the ones last year who footed got some of their money back. 50 dollars or 100 for one is too much to forfiet. My 2 cents and I don't want any change. Just want to be fair to everyone.

Thanks

CJ no 6ft cactus this time but we can take my truck. Hi Larry!!! You have a house guest. LOLOLOL

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I missed spring RU but loved the one last fall! I'm not sure about October 20, but if we're in town I'll be there for sure. Any possible alternate dates? Is Nov 10 too late? Just an idea.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

I like Nov 10 or even the 3rd. Don't want 3 back to back! Single payck won't cover that much gas for the distances in 3 wks!

November 3rd is the day I'll be speaking at the Antique Rose Emporium's fall festival, so I wouldn't be able to make it to the roundup on that day...

dave

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

How about November 10, then?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I like November 10 also.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

But isn't Nov 10 (and later, since we wouldn't get them in the ground right away) a little late to be planting perennials? Great for shrubs and trees, but perennials? Here, we usually get our first blast of winter about Thanksgiving time, which BTW, would only be 12 days away.
Smockette - CS isn't that far for you, but South and North Texas are. Lots more gas used in those directions. :-) Maybe you could skip South, instead. (Just a thought....)
I'm available for the 10th; I just think it's too late in the planting season...

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Well, I ain't the majority! I just try to make as many as I can so I can meet as many as I can.
Heck, I could make it Oct 20 or Nov 10. Or what about Nov 4, Sunday?
Dallas Swap is Oct 28 on a Sunday!
Oh, ya'll just figure out ya'll's majority & I'll be there. Call me anything but late for supper. LOL
Whenever, it ain't no step for this stepper!
:~)

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Just thought I would mention I started a new thread to talk about this since this one is pretty long: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/758271/ .

I would be ok with the 10th although it is true that it would be getting a little late to plant anything. However, I kept my stuff over the winter in the greenhouse and planted it in the spring, so that would be ok for me.
