Can the D-mail process be streamlined?

Hi Wallaby1,

I guess "compose" wasn't really the appropriate word to use - sorry. I understand everything you said since I use most of those features too.

My point is dmail is okay for most small chit-chat but is sorely lacking in capabilities of some email programs (I use Outlook and I know there are plenty of other very good email apps floating around). If you really want to "spice" up what you are talking about and embed multiple pictures and/or add multiple documents (attachents), then dmail is not the way to go.

For example: if someone wants to trade with me then dmail is very adequate for that task, but if you want to discuss features about a plant or astrophysics then dmail is going to take a lot of work to get your point across.

With email I can add lots and lots of pictures (watching the total size of the message, mind you since some ISP's don't like messages bigger than 5 or 10 Meg) or attach documents written in Excel or Word or most anything. Maybe even send a movie!

So sometimes if someone is sending me a picture at a time to show me some exciting new plants I will ask them to send me everything in one fell swoop by providing them with my email address. It saves me (and hopefully them) a lot of time and aggravation.

Now I'm with you hcmcdole, Dave has mentioned Video clip capabilities in the Questions and Answers as a future feature, just how and where you will be able to use it I don't know but there will be tutorials.

I wonder, as you mentioned being able to refer to something else while dmailing, could you place the site the information is on side by side with the dmail, even if it is something on DG you can open another one. I do this when comparing pics for ID, if you need to have one side wider then a click on the page will pop one over the other, and vice versa.

Hey Wallaby,

Sometimes I do that as well - placing two windows side by side for comparison.

I open another window (CTL-N) so that I have the dmail of the person I'm conversing with for review while I am in the "post a reply..." box. To maximize both windows, I make sure they are the only windows that are restored or maximized (minimize all other windows or close them), then right click on the task bar and tile vertically (or horizontally). While not great (laptops don't give you a lot of viewing room anyway) it does help from tabbing or clicking between windows.

Here is a mock up email I just did but I'd hate to send pictures this way.

On the subject of d-mail, is there a way to send the same message to more than one person at a time???

No, but I recommend writing your dmail, and then copy and paste it into other dmails to other people.

Re: deleting messages
I fiddled around one day and made a "trash" folder and put the dmails I wanted to delete in there, and then deleted the folder.... isn't that an option? (it worked!)
Gail

(edit: ok I went and created a folder and then deleted it and it said the messages would be moved back to my inbox... and I thought I was SO smart!! LOL .... never mind! G)
