Questions from this week

We have had a huge amount of questions, and they have all hopefully been answered, but I understand that it's difficult to wade through the 500+ replies looking for the answer to your specific question. A member dmailed me and suggested a solution, so here we are:

If you have a question that you didn't see adequately answered, please post the question in this thread. Please post only one question per post. Once we have enough questions, I will answer them all at once and put them into a large FAQ.

Please - no discussion. This thread is only for asking questions.

Mugs?

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

Is the 25.00 subscription fee a done deal or is it still being decided?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Will T-Shirts for local round ups ever be available for sale?

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Dave there are some concerns on Coffee and ..... about the Parking Lot Forum still being Private to Members only.
Can you address this?

Ric

henryr10, can you elaborate?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Actually, I found the parking lot thread and posted to it already ;o)

Northern, NJ(Zone 6b)

If a member orginally joined using a credit card (it is stated that that information is held on file for future use to be able to renew easily ) can that information be deleted, with confirmation, and another form of payment used ( for example money order)?
Thank you

Great questions - keep them coming! I will answer them shortly.

sempervirens: we have never stored credit card information and we're not starting. It's too much of a risk to keep that data on hand.

Why the post numbers underneath the time now? Just curious.

Thanks. I can get lost in this place.

Dave,
Thanks for a quick answer. I misread the entry on the Privacy Policy, excuse me, it was my error. I would like to change my question to ask if the billing information supplied by using a credit card to subscribe can be deleted, with confirmation, and another form of payment used to re-subscribe?

Thanks; I'll go through here at the end of the day and post my answers.

I posted this question on a different thread before i saw the request to post new questions here (my bad).

Since TyTy is still in business and you are now insulated from personal lawsuits, will you replace their much deserved feedback (or at least start a fresh page for them) in the Garden Watchdog?

It's a false assumption thats I am insulated from "personal lawsuits". I am -not- at all.

not a question, but noticed new name for Plant ID forum. good clarification. another of those little details you now have time for I guess.
I have been greatly enjoying my membership since september.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I did that....for a long time we just had the ID forum, which was for everything. When we created the Bug ID forum, we moved the insects over to it, but I never thought to go back and change the ID forum to be specific.

My only concern with the change is that the forum is still used for diseases as well as plants - but I don't want to give it an extremely long title.

Possibility in the future of being able to post small video clips if affordable from a bandwidth status. Probably not practical even with an increase in subscription rate but just thought I'd ask.

I answered your question in the Answers thread, Equilibrium.

Thanks,Terry.

Dave, since it seems lots of folks want mugs, but the headache it involved in the past was evident, why not go with something like Cafe Press for 'Dave's Gear'

You simply provide the graphic, and then choose the gear you want to have available, including mugs (albeit they might not be shaped like flower pots, but hey, at least they would be available) hats, T's, note pads, mouse pads etc.

I believe they ship and process orders. Just a suggestion...

I rejected CafePress long ago.

dave

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Chuckle....I suggested the same thing before we ordered the last batch of mugs, and he gave me the same thumbs-down ;o)

Where's the answers thread please? Or better yet... may I have a link to the exact post in the thread... tee he... couldn't resist. I like that new feature.

North Augusta, ON

I've heard so much about these mugs, now I really want one!!!

Huntsville, AL(Zone 7a)

Dave, since you have no plans to sell the mugs again in the future, is there any way you could speak with your supplier about offering them to us? I was very impressed with their quality and would like to order some more. They make wonderful gifts to our fellow gardeners!!
Thanks,
Barb

If for whatever reason we should no longer be a member/subscriber, what becomes of our journal and diary entries ?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Non-subscribed members still have access to their diaries and jounals.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

So then I assume our journals and diaries remain as 'property' of DG and parent co. unless we delete them.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Your words and pictures are yours. They are hosted on the site unless/until you delete them.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Terry, I know how to delete words (edit), but how do you delete a photo?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Within your journal or diary it's pretty easy - you just delete the entry. From forum posts, you can't delete the photo, only the words. We can delete posts when there's a good reason given for deleting one.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Thank you, Terry. Yes, I was referring to posts within a forum. Not that I really want to do that, but there was a picture I once posted which I later wished I hadn't.

I screwed up and accidentally posted a photo I shouldn't have posted last year. I didn't realize we weren't able to remove our own photos until I asked for help figuring out how to do it. That's when I learned we weren't able to do so. I provided Terry with an explanation and "poof" the entire post was removed. Mistake photos happen.

balvenie, were you aware that they allow us to make diary entries private? I have some that are private that are only viewable by me. Mostly lists of plants. DG is a much safer place to store some of these types of entries for me than my own computer that is used by numerous people in this home. If I ever crash, that one particular grow list is safe. Anyway, I wasn't aware we had this feature until it was pointed out to me and I think you'll really like it. Call if off-site storage or whatever but it's really a neat feature for somebody who isn't too great with computers like me and those entries are published.

Dave, I just saw on the answers thread that you will be doing more T-shirts in February. Will you please, please, please put the DG website on it? I'd rather see, I garden at www.davesgarden.com You may or may not have seen my post about the SSAWG Conference I went to last week. I wore my DG Tshirt one day and many people asked me what Dave's Garden was. There were 1200 people there! On the back of the shirt is great because people won't feel like they are staring at one's chest as they read and write :)

Thanks,
Kathy

I still have quite a few shirts from the last run that we did and I'm going to sell those all off before I order new ones.

When I order new ones, YES I'll have the website address on it. :)

Ok, my question is from your answer on the new subscription of $25.
You said you announced it on when it is to start. Guess I miss that.
So when does it start?
Thanks, Carol
