February Bingo Game..Please join our game!!!!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

lol your all making me laugh :))

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

hey... googling the names to find photos of the AVs so you can make a better guess isn't "cheating!" It's research! LOL

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

True Jill, PLUS it really is fun when you actually can identify some of them....lol

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I like the challenge of just looking at the descriptions of ones you don't know and trying to match to the photo... Although even if you google to find a photo, it won't necessarily be an exact match to the one posted, so it's still good to go by the description... keeps us on our toes, brushing up on recognizing girl leaves or wasp blooms etc.

:-)

(Zone 1)

I don't have a clue as to what is girl foliage or boy foliage and I'm assuming a wasp bloom means it sorta looks like a flying wasp? I'm so bad, I can't even figure out on the Optimara ID website which one I have by looking at pictures!

So, alas .... I will most likely have to wait until she posts the name! With the exception of my own photo and one other I remember cause I loved it so much! :)

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Can someone give us a link to a pictorial of AV's? Optimara Id website? I'd like to bookmark it for future reference. While I'm in question mode, is it true that once an AV's name marker is lost it is forever nameless as in a NOID forever?

Modesto, CA(Zone 8b)

My favorite site for finding pics is the AVSA (African Violet Society of America) photo gallery. Here's a link below. I almost always find what I'm looking for there.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh, don't worry about knowing them, most of us don't...I will tell you the names...after I post the pictures....LOL You will be fine!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh That's Ok you don't need to know anything about Av's to play ! But you'll have fun and learn about them and see pretty pictures !

Allison, is it normal for the flowers to be so varied on one little plant...that is just so beautiful to me..to have of those variations of the flower on one plant...cool! Artic..coool...lol

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Your right on, Janet. That IS an amazing AV.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Arctic Frost (S. Sorano) Semidouble white large star/variable blue-marked eye, edge. Medium green. Standard
I've seen it a lot. . I have seen it most often in fantasy bloomers, though my Morning Thunder and other plants always did it ! I love it. I think they are trying to be like one of their other parents ?
Another picture of this one in FC

So Pretty!

Here's two Noids I just had to buy at Wal-Mart the other day!

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Allsion, that bloom is magnificent!!! It looks like it it a triple bloom....I guess it is like a sibling, they favor but aren't twins...LOL Jill, I tell you the truth, looking at so many pictures, made me want to remove a wall so I could have enough light to grow hundreds of them!!! There is such an assortment...I just had no idea... I would venture to say there is most likely few plants that have so many different forms and names...does anyone know? I mean are AVs like the most variable plants there is....surely there aren't this many varieties of too many plants....well, I guess maybe daylilies....but how about house plants, are they the KING of house plants as far as how many different ones they have?

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Those are both beautiful! I am such a sucker for the violet looking flowers too...the red is very pretty too..but I just love those blues/purples!

(Zone 1)

Love 'Arctic Frost' .... the color and the ruffled flowers! It just makes me want so many more AV's.

Janet: I'm LOL about you knocking out a wall ... sounds like me, I've been talking about one room inside the house for just plants! Wouldn't it be amazing to have an indoor garden room, with hundreds and hundreds of AV's blooming all at once?! If I were to win the Lotto, I would HAVE to make that one of my Priorities! AND, it would be a VERY LARGE GARDEN ROOM! :)

Lin

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I really would love to make my deck a GARDEN room...if I had the money!!! A huge Florida room with the roll out windows and shelves everywhere....just would love it!!! Then I could make a small bricked patio below that on the area that is now grass and have more garden areas around the patio..just do away with most all of the grass in the back yard...I would love it! BUT it would cost a lot of money I think...I don't know much about those things, but I did get an estimate on my basement and I could almost build a small home for what they wanted to finish it...of course it is 2600 sqare feet...so it would be like another house inside this one...LOL...I also have a very high roof with Dormer windows in the attic space..have thought about making a room up there and putting in sky lights...but when I get really old I may not be able to climb the steps (no steps at this time)....LOL DREAMING on all counts!

If you want more now, just wait till you see some of the ones on our list..they will have you drooling for sure!!!
