Round Ups this year

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

Sheila, you're right there! This has been the worst winter we've had in years. The rain was welcome after that drought, but I'd much rather have it in spring and summer at this point! Today is just beautiful! I put the poor plants I'd been keeping inside out before they croak. But will have to watch the temps at night.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Better be thinking about getting those plants in quick. The temps are already at 44 here with a 20 MPH wind. It will be freezing for several days here this week.
Look forward.....spring.....bulbs popping up.......butterflies......RU at CS.....friends and sunshine!!!

Crossville, TN

Hi....I got your Dmail Blye Eyes.....will this be at the same place as last year.......give me a starting time too please. Thanks....Jo

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey everyone.......I saved the link that Dave gave us last year for hotel locations. There are 3 or 4 pages, so click at the bottom left to see other places.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sll=30.632484,-96.329198&sspn=0.024187,0.034075&hl=en&q=hotel&ll=30.635438,-96.322718&spn=0.024186,0.034075

The park is just south of town, and west of Hwy 6, on Rock Prarie Road.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Hi Jo! Let's plan for the same location, and I think last year we started at 10am. Thanks so much!

Kim

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

I am so excited!! I can't wait to see everyone again. I had so much fun at the fall roundup.....
Is there a swap thread up yet? Kim did Dave already get the pavilion reserved? Hope so!!!
Trish

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm excited too.....I spoke with my mom on the phone yesterday and she would like to come. I'm not sure yet if that will work out but it would be great if it did. I will be calling this week about the pavilion. I will probably ask for help in paying for the reservation if they charge for it, I am a grad student and don't have a lot of spare money right now. I'm sure if everyone pitched in it wouldn't be much. I will start up a swap thread too.

:) Kim

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

You can count on me to pitch in. That was a great place to have the RU. Sent you a dmail.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim, I will be glad to send my share, and I think that everyone needs to send their share before you commit to anything, you shouldn't have to upfront the money for the pavilion, the responsibility of paying for it belongs to all of us who want to attend. You are taking on a big job and it shouldn't have to cost you money too.
Please find out how much it is and tell us what our share is.
I hope I haven't offended anyone by saying this, but it needed to be clarified, and I don't want to see you stuck with the bill.
Josephine.

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

Count me in for my share and a bit more in case the "share" would really keep someone from coming. Gotta meet all the nice people who have put up w/me and my views.

Ann

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks everyone. I will find out how much it is and let you know. I really appreciate all the offers to help out, I don't want anyone to be kept away because of the money but I do welcome the help.

:) Kim

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

It was $200 last year, according to Dave.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

There is also a $100 deposit due along with the $200 rent at the time the reservation is made. The deposit will be refunded if we leave the facility clean and return the keys. So Kim needs $300 now to make the reservation.

Here is the list of rules for pavillion use: http://www.cstx.gov/home/index.asp?page=657

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Just d-mail me so I know where to send the money!!! :-)))))))
Is there anything else you need help with? Let me know, Kim. I'd be glad to help, as I'm sure many of us would.

McKinney, TX(Zone 7b)

Ditto on letting us know where to send a bit of $$.

I'm going to start now on something glassy for the door prizes.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim is in the address section under "extras" for those of you that list your own address there.

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

Kim, can you give a ballpark figure as to what each of us should owe. Have no idea but want to pay our way and don't want you to have put up the money up front. Funny thing, tho (but I'm definitely not laughing): lost my billfold the other day (and don't ask me where because if I knew where I would go try to retrieve it) so had to cancel all my credit cards. "Now ain't that a kick in the teeth?" My checks are still good, tho.

Ann

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm guessing that the amount people would owe would depend on how many people are coming. I'm not sure we could get a head count this early. I suppose though that if we had 20 people and I put up the deposit so that it was $200 owed, it would be $10/person. If we had more people if would be less. I've been busy all morning doing surgery training so if there is a better way to do this maybe I will think of it later. I've been up since 5am....mind still whirling. I need coffee....

:) Kim

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim, I have an idea, and please, if you or anyone don't like the idea, let me know, I won't be upset.

This is my idea, since it would be difficult to determine at this point how many people are going to attend.

Ten of us who know they plan to go could send you $30 each, and that way you would have everything covered.

Then when you get the deposit back, you can give the $10 back to each of us.

The money you collect from other members, can be divided by the total # of members attending, and you can give us back what we overpaid when we come to the R.U. or when you get the deposit money back.

I think this would expedite things and you wouldn't have to upfront the deposit.
I volunteer to be one of the ten, if the idea is accepted.
If not, that is O.K., I am just trying to make it easier for you, and be sure that we get the place for the date we want.
Josephine.

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

it's fine w/me, Josephine. If it's ok w/Kim, I'm in.

Ann

McKinney, TX(Zone 7b)

I volunteer to be one of the 10 if this plan's approved.

Boerne new zone 30, TX(Zone 8b)

I would have been one of the ones to volunteer but I blew an engine today and I don't even know how I'm getting to work and back in the next forseeable future.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Nada that is fine, you can pay your share when you come.
I hope your car can get fixed soon without too much expense and inconvenience.
Josephine.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

I'll be one of the ten!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Me, too! :-)

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll volunteer to send $100 for the deposit so Kim will have only one person to reimburse after the day of the RU. Much simpler for her, and it will force me to save my money until at least May! lol

If Kim approves and I have counted correctly, we need only a couple more volunteers for a total of $50.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Count me in for $20! I plan on coming....barring God's plans.

Edited to correct the amount!

Hello eveyone! Wow....you guys were busy today...and so was I. I did an ovariectomy on a goat this morning, then labwork and cleanup from the surgery all afternoon. It's nice to finally sit down. Josephine, your idea sounds great and I am touched by all of you who have already volunteered to help out. I should have time to call tomorrow about the pavilion. Thank you guys so much!!! I keep telling my family that Texans are the nicest people out there, as are gardeners. Patrob....that would be great. Truth be told it is hard for me to pay out $100 at a time beyond my bills and such, I cannot wait until I graduate and get a job! Of course that's partly because I've been in school for what seems like forever.....lol.

:) Kim

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll have my check in the mail to you tomorrow, Kim. We appreciate your getting this RU going in spite of your busy schedule. Planning for a spring event gives me hope that this cold weather will soon pass. Of course, you know what I'll be complaining about in July!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Pat, it is very generous of you to send the money for the deposit, but she still needs $200 more to get it nailed down, so I guess ten of us need to send her $20 instead of thirty, is that correct Kim?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, I got the amount wrong some where back there. You are correct Josephine! Here is what we have now.

Pat the $100 deposit
In for the $20, to make up the $200 (need 10 volunteers)

Frostweed
Ann
Sandi
CeeJay
Marylyn
Sheila

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

I'll do $50 - that will make $200......

It's done. Kim - I need your address, I'm not in the addie thingy....

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim I got your address, I will get my $20 in the mail.
Thank you Ceejay for taking the larger share.
And thanks to all of you who volunteered.
Josephine.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh - I thought Patrob was doing 100, the rest were doing 10 (Frostweed, Ann, Sandi, Marylyn, Sheila), and with me doing 50, that came to 200....

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I already sent her $20, so that will take your share down to $40, CJ. (Are we confused yet?? LOL)

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

I think there's a whole bunch of confusion going on..... :-D

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

1. The pavillion is requiring a $100 up front deposit (Pat is doing this)
2. They also charge $200 for the one day on the weekends
( @ $20 each we needed 10 volunteers )

We had six volunteers so far ($120 total-still $80 to go) before your offer CeeJay.

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

This reminds me of when women go to lunch and order different things then try to get the bill and tip together. I THINK I offered $30 as per Josephine's proposal so I'll send that unless I hear differently. Gotta go to the hospital.

Ann

Katy, TX(Zone 8b)

Cannot remember where the addresses are I signed up yesterday and I don't where. Help QUICK pls so I can send my check

Ann

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

The address exchange is under 'extras' at the top of the page. And mine should be in there.

Thanks, Kim
