Lily of the Nile

Castro Valley, CA(Zone 9a)

Hi everyone: I need help! I have about 7 or 8 lily of the Nile grown near the front porch. They bloomed beautifully in June and last until now. But just about 4 or 5 days ago, the leaves turned yellow as if they are dying. What can I do to salvage them? I do not know a lot about gardening, so this really terrifies me. I live in a new community and other houses have the same plants but theirs look normal. Help! Thanks a million!

there could be vine weevils eating the roots or maybe the plants are too dry.

dig the plants up, cut off the flowers to save energy and was off all the soil. if any roots are rotten cut them off and replant in another part of the garden but remember to keep it well water until the start of winter.

someone else might have a view on this so wait a while.

Mark: Thank you for your suggestion. But I don't think it's too dry. I watered it everyday using the dripping hose. Could it be too wet? Or could it be snails eating the roots?

Could be too wet but check around the plants fo disturbances. I lost one last year when a mole kept burrowing under it and created air pockets that allowed the roots to dry out no matter how often I watered it!
