In the Bay Area of California we have had no rain for quite a while and I have turned off my automatic watering for the winter in hopes of consistent rain.
Should I water now as temps in the 20's and 30's are predicted for the next couple of nights?
Thanks.
Water & Freezing temps
Do you have a hand held water meter so you can test the soil? If the soil is dry, the freeze will be harder on the plants.
No, I don't have a hand held meter. So I SHOULD water today, right?
Stick your finger in the soil. Is it moist or dry? If it's dry, then water.
The hand held meters only cost about $8.00 at Home Depot or OSH.
