Donna, I have had a great day today, got 9 1/2 gal jugs sowed and going to get some more ready in a little while - after American Idol is off :o) lol Then going to read a while...
Went to the dollar store this evening and bought some aluminum pans and ran into ACO and picked up some potting soil they had on sell, for the youth groups winter sowing project. Plus got me two bags also rofl... I will be glad when I get all these sowed =)

CLOSED: St. Patrick's Day Seed Swap
Sounds like a very productive day all around:) This is the only time I watch American Idol. Don't like the actually competition but love the crazy auditions:LOL: Gotta hit Home Depot or Lowes this week. I've procrastinated with the WS because it's my first time trying it and the weather here is so mild. I guess seeds survived and grew for the last few thousand years without me obsessing about it, so they'll either grow or they won't =) I'll be happy with whatever make a showing--will not play plant favorites this year!
Donna I really like the whole show,I like to see how each one performs, what they learn new etc, but these first ones are a hoot... I think I laugh at my dh as much as I did the ones that were trying out... He thinks Simon makes the show :o)
I posted a pick of the WSing containers I have done so far, on the Michigan forum... and thats just the start, still have lots more to do... :o)
Connie
Bump!
How is everyone doing? dh just came in and said it was trying to snow here, I hope we do get hit with some. I am so tired of looking out and seeing yuck. It sure is cold enough to snow a blizzard lol.
Well I took all my WSing jugs around to the back today and got them off our front deck... I still have lots and lots more to sow... I will get them done, I will get them done, I will! rofl... I keep telling myself that long enough and they will be done :o)
I forgot to mention in the first post, that you don't have to enclude a label, I will be making them :o)
Ana & Sue could you please dmail me your addresses the way they need to go on the envelope, thanks :o)
Connie
Thanks Caren :o)
We must be on the same brain wave =)
I've only planted 10 half gals. so far, it's been warm and then cold, warm and then cold lol I'm gonna wait until March when I know the weather is more predicitable. I think we are suppose to get some snow tomorrow, last week it was in the 60's and 30's, this week it's been in the 20's, next week it'll be in the 60's again probably lol
I got some trinkets to decorate with at wally world yesterday, I love St. Patrick's Day, my favorite color 'green' lol They didn't have much yet most of it was for Valentines Day.
Ooh! I know so many are struggling with the extreme winter weather, but I'm a bit excited that we finally had visible signs of winter early today. Just a light dusting and cold although I'm sure just by me opening my trap--the bad stuff will end up heading here next:LOL: I can't stand weather extremes either way but it just hasn't seemed "right" that a week ago it was 70!
Well Ken came in earlier and said it was trying to snow, but it didn't try hard enough, I haven't seen a flake, but the weather guy just said we should get some starting tonight around 9/10... I hope we get some... a little bit anyway...
Connie
Is everybody swapped out? Come on, y'all and join in the fun.
Diane,
I have a feeling some of the people think I am taking seeds that I receive from these swaps and are selling them on that website I am trying to start. (Which by the way, is not up and running yet. I still can't get the pages the way I want them)... I don't know why anyone would even think that, it's not like you get kazillion seeds in a swap or trade, even tho some have been very generous and I have used the extras for trades or swaps... lol
As far as the website goes, it is something I would like to do (in the far future) once I have all my gardens built and established. But for those of you that have garden beds, you know that can't happen over night... I am tickled to death by all the different flower seeds I have received and will be used to create all my garden beds... If I don't kill them first that is lol...
I will probably close this February 1st, haven't made up my mind yet on how long to leave it open. But I do want to give everybody time to get there packets done and the extras listed... If we don't get anymore to join by then only 12 packs will be what you all will need to send...
I have started making my labels for the members that are signed up :o) and I have started making my seed packets up already too...
Connie
I know someone posted something to that effect in the other swap posts after you gave us the link to your website, but I don't know why anyone would leap to the conclusion that you planned to sell seeds from swaps. Even if you had enough seeds, which would be quite an accomplishment, seeds from swaps aren't suitable for selling.
Well, I'm sorry if anyone is opting out of this swap because of fairy tales and gossipy extrapolations. I had so much fun with the last two and am thrilled at all the wonderful seeds I received. I hesitated with this one not because I thought there was hanky panky going on but because I wasn't sure if I would have enough seeds left for the large number in the original swap post.
I really hope that's not what people are thinking! I have participated in your past two swaps and have recieved a very generous amount of seed packets. That really would be a shame. The only reason I'd opt out of a swap is for an emergency personal/financial situation or if the number of participants kept opening up to the point I wouldn't have the needed amount of seed, say it starts at 15 and because of interest extends up to 30 participants.
Well, either way, it will still be fun! Like always!
I'd like to join in the St Patty swap.
Deborah♥
Connie,I am sure nothing is farther from the truth and I and am certain anyone else who has swapped with you in the past knows what an honest and super person you are : ) I just enjoyed the last swap you hosted so much.Looking forward to this one and many more : )
Nancy
People will do and think what they will, and don't think twice about hurting someone (even if they don't know a person). They are not hurting me really, they are only hurting them selves.
Personally I enjoy doing the swaps, meeting new ppl and I really look forward to seeing the neat little packets everyone does... So many great imaginations out there :o)
Well DH and I got invited to a friends house for dinner tonight, looking forward to going and getting out of the house for a while :o) But sure am dreading the cold *brrrr*
The neighborhood kids are out today enjoying all the ice... I can remember when I use to enjoy doing that lol.. Can't take the cold now tho :( It's a shame the body has to get old rofl even if the mind stays young =)
Well I am getting my laundry done today and straightening the house up a little bit. Tomorrow will be a busy busy day, as Sunday's usually are for us... Now Monday will be another day of WSing for me... Something tells me I am going to have plenty to share with my neighbor lol
Connie
I think that some people just don't have enough seeds left to trade at this time of year Connie, I don't think it's because of your web site and the last swap you had was a killer lol I'm just sorry I had to miss out on it, people probably got rid of a lot of seeds on that lol I'll go with your swaps anytime that I can!
Lea
Well I have been playing around with my frontpage since we got home, and I have two pages done on my web site. :o) I know the font color needs to be changed so ppl can see it a little better, but I have to get in bed. There are a couple of links to other pages I will be creating. that will take you absolutely no where but an error page right now. Until I can get the pages made and uploaded. But I was wondering what you all think about it so far *grinning* conniesgarden.com just put the http:// in front of it. Oh yeah when you get to that page, click enter... I can't wait to get the rest of the pages done...
Dinner to night was nice, but I drank to much coffee :( Thus the reason I am up so late... Well you all have a great day... Will check in when I get home from church tomorrow.
God Bless
Connie
OK, I know I'm pushing it, because I'm still working on my Valentine's swap, but I can't resist another swap. Sign me up!
JoAnn
I know how you feel JoAnn---I wasn't expecting the Valentine's Swap to go up to 30 people--ended up having to shop a bit:LOL:
That's what I'm working on this afternoon so hopefully I'll be able to mail it off by Wed.
Oh Great to have you jump on board JoAnn. Oh this is getting better everyday lol
Connie
Deborah, I am sooo sorry I missed your name, Welcome a board, glad you could join :o)
Connie
Okay that leaves 6 more, Did I miss anybody else??? Hope not, if I did give me a shout :o)
Connie
Hello :o)
defoecat has some apple gourd seeds, I know there were a few of you that were wanting some. I am sending her a BE for some and dmailed her asking if she could send some extra seed to me and I will send them to you that posted in the last swap that wanted them, thats in this swap :o) That way you can save on postage.
Connie
That's awfully thoughtful of you, Connie. I had asked for some in the last swap but didn't manage to get those.
Will it be okay to send vegetable as well as flower seeds in this swap? I've ordered some heirloom vegetable seeds and I might have enough extras to send some of those.
anything goes Diane, what ever you have to send is fine :o) I am sure the others won't mind at all.
Connie
It is snowing here today, but just barely coming down, we have about an inch. but the northern part of Michigan has (is?) really getting it... I would love to see at least 6 inches to a foot of it here. But hey, thats just me lol
Connie
We got about 4 inches yesterday. I hope most of it will melt off today because our road is awful.
I hope I'll have enough of some of these heirloom seeds to send. I'm trying to find some different things to send this time since we have quite a few people who participated in the first two swaps.
Sounds like quite a few have been receiving snow.We received another 8 inches Saturday night.Puts me in the winter sowing mood for sure.Don't like when the roads get bad tho : (
You read my mind Hart.I too am going to send seeds I never sent in the other swaps. Its a bit more of a challenge but it will be worth it. Have some more new ones coming later in the week so it will be fun deciding what to send : )
Nancy
I'm doing a bit of seed ordering too. The swaps have helped me get through enough of my "stash" that I don't feel too guilty to buy a few more things. I wanted to have a few different items to include.
I got the cutest things for the surprise gift today. Absolutely nothing available for St. Pat's day yet, though, except for a beer mug that said, "Kiss me, I'm Irish," or something like that. I didn't think that would fit into a padded envelope too well. I'll look again next week.
Hi,
I would love to join if there is still room.
Jane
Hey Connie,
How many are you up to now? If everyone is not tired of my seeds, I'll join in. I've only sent what I harvested from my garden. I do have some seed from 2005 and some leftovers from trades but I can't guarantee how old they are. What do you think?
Brenda
Connie,
When do you want the seed sent to you? by what date?
Thank you.
Kathryn
