Rose vs. Chocolate

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

I just wish I knew which seed source it came from. You can tell from the surface of the seed that it was one of those "factory prepared" ones.

Now, I have a few of my 'Variants' to go find that are just as beautiful and they didn't even come from Rose Silks.

One more that may even be getting off the subject, but this bloom has the same color pattern as some that I've posted above. This particular Blooms came from my 'Henka Blue Type' that has thrown so many colors, patterns and variations.

Outstanding thread - thank you for starting it QueenB.

As always, love your pics, Emma. The one that Joseph liked resembles the flowers that came from the vines from your seed - just staggering. I sent you a dmail with just one little question.

Karen,
As you can now see, I am finally able to get back with my friends so I will be writing you tomorrow.
I'm getting lots of things accomplished now finally.
Talk to you soon.

Emma, did your Lavender Streaks happen to come from that batch? (Don't mean to get off topic here...) Here's an example of how mine grew out this summer:

Stacey, Yes, I believe so. I have gotten so many different colors and patterns from my 'Henka Blue-Type'. It still amazes me how many that have come from that one single seed.
Here are a couple that are 'close' to your colors, but I'd need to go back to 2005 photos and can show you some that are almost an exact match.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi Jackie,
Isn't that one incredible.

I haven't even grown them out yet since they have first bloomed. Maybe a couple this year to see what they do.

Emma

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Ron, I still haven't found my AWESOME 2003 Photos yet, but I'm still looking.
These blooms would be the PERFECT examples to compare Rose Silk vs. Chocolate Silk as that year they were all 'normal' before they started throwing all of my unusual awesome Tie Dyes and others.

Emma - Thanks for sharing the photos of your chocolates, roses and related colors...

Looks like there's some variations of the main basic colors, rayed and blizzard patterns, margined edges along with some leaf shape variations and variegation...

one that I particularly like...darker rays along both the primary and secondary folds contrasted by the more dilute coloration along with the white margin and scalloped edge...

Nice contrast and with 6 primary ribs...

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks for all of your input Ron, along with THE way to describe the blooms.
I will keep looking for my 2003 photos because they will be great for comparisons.

Stacey the Bloom that you like
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=3066948

have 'almost' Rayed-type blooms on most, very much like the two you grew this year.
I'll send you some other photos separately along with seeds if you like.
I'm curious what they do this year when grown out again.
And, the color is very unusual.

Emma
