It's at a historic site? I missed that clue, off to find my atlas. I've no idea how to find a topo on line. I'm digitally challenged LOL

Oneida? I have to admit....like Blooms I have trouble with the topo maps. I guess I'm stuck in retro w/ the Atlas. :)
Not Oneida, but like Oneida, this place was a religious settlement.

Harmony?
You got it, Gayle! The weather was kind of ugly the day we were there but the rain really brought out the colors.
It turns out that I had an ancestor who became a member of that sect. I think it is an interesting story. She was from one of the German states. (As I understand it, a united country of Germany did not exist until the 1870s.) Her husband was a person of some means and belonged to a Separtist denomination. (Separtists were like extreme Protestants). He didn't like his taxes going to support the state religion, which happened to Lutheranism, so he quit paying his taxes. He was thrown into jail and all of his possessions were confiscated. After he died, his wife and at least one child moved to the United States. The boy was apprenticed to someone in Philadelphia and at some point the mother moved west and ended up at Old Economy and joined the group. The boy/young man was free to visit but he never joined. If he had, then he wouldn't be my ancestor since it was a celibate organization. Apparently the mother stayed with the group for the rest of her life, for it is reported that she is buried in their cemetary.
I had given up until you gave that last clue. That was a tough one!
Can I stick one in here?
mg
That's a neat story, Kelli. I think most people don't realize the pilgrims were Seperatists. I didn't know the Seperatist movement was around that long, or that there were German Seperatists, either.
Sure, mg, go for it.

LOL! That was a good one Mornin_gayle! I remember my DM would sing us a little song as children about the morning gayle when it was time for us to rise, it was a very happy song or perhaps I felt happy when my DM sang to us. Do you know the song, I can't remember the words except "morning gail" ;0)
