Visitors to My Garden

If there was a pair nesting there, the young may come back. Would you be in a position to provide a nesting box for the ducks that once nested in the palm that was trashed in the thunderstorm? I've got nesting box plans for Wood Ducks.

Yes please.
But the thunderstorm killed the good palm.
And after that the ducks moved in.
And over 2 years had 2 lots of youngens.
Then the palm fell over.
Thanks for the offer.

Let me go on line and see if I can find them somewhere otherwise I'll ask you to give me your name and address in D-Mail and I will go to a blueprint shop and have them copied to send to you.

Mark, will you please check with your sources and see if you've got any duck nesting box plans for her too? If not, I have the ones we used but finding them on line or in a pdf format so she could print them off herself might be a lot faster.

Bingo, real close to mine-

Just don't use cedar or pine. We used oak then primed it with a water based primer then painted them with water based exterior paints in medium grays. That predator baffle you see is very important. I don't know if you have any English House Sparrows around you but here's a site where you could probably contact someone to get help deterring them-
http://www.ducks.org/Pennsylvania/PAContent/2332/DuckBoxMaintenenceHousingPlans.html

Still searching for plans to the exact one we have.

Direct hit complete with the addition of the hardware cloth to help the ducklings get out. I think we used chicken wire and later resorted to adding very small strips of wood so their little feetsies didn't get stuck in the hardware cloth or chicken wire. Save the pdf file to your hard drive because sometimes these links stay on the www for a while and sometimes they disappear without a trace-

Here's another site that shows photos of the "escape route" for young ducklings-
http://www.cumauriceriver.org/pages/WOODDUCKBOX.pdf

Neither set of plans includes the predator baffle which I would highly recommend.

Thanks for that Bloke.
I`ll have that made in less than 3 weeks.
And that includes Xmas.
What do you make of this???

A visually stimulating place for children to visit? Is this a trick question? Tee he.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Saw this on saturday 200 klms west of Brisvegas.
This is a Local Police station at a small town called Woodenbong.
Try Googling it. Its in Queensland.

Taken this afternoon.
Can anyone see what they are?
And how many do you see?

Just goes to prove that we Americans don't corner the market on tacky lawn decorations. I still think kids would get a kick out of it. It's fun and exciting and not something they'd get to see on a regular basis. Really glad my neighbors don't use the same landscapers your Police Dept uses ;)

7 and they are some sort of a parrot?

7 Is right . Well camouflaged Hey?
Now what are they ?

Making me work at this obscene hour of the night?

Is this it by chance-
http://www.travelblog.org/Photos/10820.html

and it may be appearing on the cover of this book-

I have a girlfriend who owns a pet shop and there is no way I could call her and cheat by sending her your photo because she'd kill me if I called her house at almost 2:30am to get a bird identification.

We have a winner %%%%%% that`s clapping.
Currumbin Bird Sanctuary. Is next door.
3000 birds visit each day.
Very noisy but cute.

Be careful with those house plans. Ginger's "Ducks" are just a bit smaller than our Canada Geese. About the size of a Brant Goose from what I can tell. They will need a bigger box and a bigger hole than our little Wood Ducks.

Uh oh! Couldn't she sort of try to smash them through the opening so she could still use the plans ;) Get this visual of ginger using both hands to ram a big duck through a little hole the size for a wood duck with all the quacking that would be going on. Oops.

Back to the drawing board for nest boxes plans for ginger!

Ditto to that Bloke.
Try a lower case q in the word Quote then I think it should work for you next time.

I tried that .
I think it was because I put it in during an edit?
Try it yourself. Adding a
during an edit.
Learn something new every day.
And where does it all get us? lol

Hmmm, where does it get us? Good question I ask myself a lot.

Here's another question for you... will you be posting any photos of yourself smashing big ducks through teeny tiny holes?

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Depends on how much BUNDY I drink.
I may just make the hole bigger in the first place.

Well, based on what stelco said... you better quadruple the size of the box AND the quadruple the hole size too while you're at it and of course a little BUNDY might help/ What is BUNDY?

Ah ha ha ha ha! So that's what BUNDY is.

Dewitt, MI(Zone 5b)

Dunno, best guess??? I like their commercials, though.

Hey, isn't Fosters good enough for ya!

Dewitt, MI(Zone 5b)

NO! I want a BUNDY!!!

Fine, fine... ask her pretty please with sugar on top and a cherry and see if she agrees to send you a BUNDY. In exchange, you send her plans to a nesting box for her ducks that are the size of a Canada Goose.

Come to think of it... maybe you could build her an appropriate sized nest box to send her in exchange for a whole 6-pack.

Dewitt, MI(Zone 5b)

That gosh darn Dave gave me a time out. I'll be sitting in the corner for a while. If I violate any trade regulations Dave might have me deported. ;)

Whadidimiss? No don't tell me. Be good and sit in time out and call it a day. While you're there, could ya work on locating some blue prints for this new gal? Be productive ;)

Holy cow! You certainly were productive. You've got accurate dimensions for her based on the species of duck she has and all she needs to do is add the baffle for snakes and such and the Myna bird deterrent. Holy moly great balls of fire! Good detective work!

Do they make the cars that small to fit in the small parking spots or is it the other way around????

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Every week they raffle off one of them things.
Some sort of tourist promotion.
I`ll look into it Friday. and get back with more info.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

OK then. friday and I`ve been a busy little Vegemite.
Took some more Pics of small car .
It`s a Mercedes??????

Its a rental.
And they offer Free Fuel While you rent it.
I`ll add pics later tonight.

Free fuel? What do you need fuel for in a pedal car? I keep waiting to see Fred and Barney stepping out of that thing any minute :)
