E-gads, I just got an e-mail from a fella in Sturgis, MI. He says the Meijer store there is selling loads of pretty roses for 25 cents each!!!!! ACKKKKKKKKKKK, and the Lowes is selling theirs for $1.00 each....Where is my darn MAP??, LOL

Back from the garden center- spent 35 bucks which got me 70 bucks worth of bulbs. Now....where do I plant them? Kinda like food- my eyes are bigger than my stomach kinda thing. Man do they have a ton left over....think they will go down to 75% off?
Two years ago I bought a ton of bulbs at English Gardens that were marked down to 75% off! I had always wanted those big globe alliums and they are one flower that the deer won't eat. I think I bought every single allium they had in the store. All different sizes and colors. Even with 75% off I spent over $200!! I'm so glad I did. I planted them right away and they were so beautiful this spring. Each year they get better as they multiply. I only do alliums, grape hyacynths and daffodils. They are the kind you can kind of plant and forget. I love tulips but gave up fighting the squirrels for them and they kind of piddle out after a few years. Nothing worse than getting leaves and no flowers. :(
I think waiting for those final finals on the bulbs is the best way to add to your collection without breaking the bank. Have fun and be sure to post pictures next spring.

Back to digging up more daffys today and then getting in the bulbs from my buy yesterday. They had a ton of allium at the garden store yesterday, but I passed on them. Mine never multiply....Maybe I need more...
Wednesday I think I will just lay in the sun....

I have all kinds of allium and love them-the smaller kinds tend to reseed -i have whites and pinks everywhere!
Oh its going to be a beautiful day-week!!! I plan to till the iris beds today-My dh did the daylily beds yesterday and guess what-He made the 3rd one bigger-I can get at least 3 more rows in there with about 30 plants per row!!
or i will use it for all of next springs seedlings! :)
Well i got the kids dressed and on the bus-so now i can start my day-even did the bills already!! Now to get dressed and peace out!

re. allium seeds - I've collected seeds from mine, but can't get them to germinate-- what's the secret? The heads have tons of seeds - yet they don't sprout outside either. I know there must be a secret that someone is keeping from me!
I love anemones!! Do yours look like little dried up bunny poos? If so, get them in the ground. I especially love the purple/blue ones-they jump out at you in the spring. This year I bought some red and white ones (blue all gone....) I've also had those reseed and show up in places where I've never planted them.
ce-yup - never met I food I didn't like!! In fact, I'd like that drink Dori has in front of her - just my size...
Well, I'm heading out to dig some more daffy bulbs and if I see my garden neighbor outside, I'm gonna twist her arm to go with me back to the garden center and snatch up some purple allium!!
Sarv yes all 6 of them look like that, I was reading the instructions that came with them and it says soak in cold water for 12 hours... Being I am planting them out now, would I need to soak them first???

ce- I've never soaked mine and they all have done just fine. Garden friend couldn't go - she was painting doors outside and rain is coming this afternoon. I took that as a sign, so I didn't go either. I ended up getting in most of the bulbs I bought and ripped out all the yellow, gooey hosta leaves. Sure looks better with them out of the beds.
I need to record all the bulbs I bought in my garden jounal....I'm trying to be so organized!!

I worked outside all day yesterday(past 2days)from sun up to after sundown.
I tilled the Iris beds and then tilled under some stuff in the big garden-holly hocks were everywhere not anymore!
Then i mowed all the lawn for what I think will be the last time this yr! After dh got home we worked in the barn moving stuff and storing stuff-wish we could have a auction and sell stuff! ;)
Id like to go out today again-just to be outside! :) I know i can find stuff to do! The rain is pushing its way up here closer and closer and the temps are at 48 right now and really cloudy! I may just go work on sanding the rest of my camaro so its ready to primer soon! I want to start putting her back together! The motor my DH rebuilt runs and sounds wonderful.
Im glad to see some memberfaces back on the boards and some newbies just posting! I hope we can gab all winter and share info and more!! Maybe a michigan secret santa of some kind-hmmmmm! maybe i should plan that!!! what do you think?

Everyone must be out in their gardens working today!! I got the last of my bulbs planted, but still have 5 pots of mums to get in the ground. If they don't get in, no loss--I started them from cuttings and can do it again next summer. Oh it is gorgeous out!!! (did I hear snow for the weekend tho?)

My dh took half a day off yesterday-I was in the daylily beds tagging them when he pulled in with a huge truck, so the rest of the day we loaded and hauld cars. We did get 2 loads out and another one loaded(we had to cut a ford window van in half) Man I was so tired after I ate my Whopper I fell asleep! I never do that!!! Today I shall finish the daylily markers and then load up as much junk as I can on that truck. Dh will be home a little early to haul this load and work on getting 2 more ready to go!!! I sure would like to get it done before the snow gets here!

My car's in the fix'it shop....something's not right.....probably have to sell the first born to get it back!! I need to pack and get on the road- girls weekend at the spa....just think of me getting all that oil rubbed into my body...I'll probably slide home I'll be so greasy.
