I can't figure out how to find a bug on the bug files because I have no idea what its name is! This is obviously a larva -- the little ones are tiny and the big ones look just like them but they're maybe 1/2 to 3/4 inch long. Greenish white stripey bodies, and a big black head. They cut a little "blankie" at the edge of a pole bean leaf and tuck themselves in to grow.
Any ideas? Or instructions on how to find it in the bug files?
Thanks! I hope I'm not squishing a beneficial.
bug ID
If you post a photo on the Garden Foes forum, someone may recognize your bug and be able to suggest a name.
If you click on the Garden Talk tab, you can go to a newer forum called Bug Identification. If you can post a picture or a good description, someone could point you in the right direction. They've helped me a few times! Here is a link to the Bug ID forum. http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/bugid/all/
thanks!!!
Okay, I found it's a bean leafroller on www.bugguide.net. No info on it there or the bug guides though. I think I'll google it. If I find anything of much interest, I'll post it.
Thanks for the input, y'all!
