I think I have red also. I will see if I can get a rooting when it puts out. Hoping it will put out.
Edited to say that mine is Dallas Red but it still hasn't put out.

Who wants a Spring Roundup in GA ?
Carmen, layer your vine. Just make a thin cut, rub some rooting hormone in it and then put a small rock on that area in good contact with soil. We are rooting some vines at church that way.
If I come, I will be bringing seeds.
I honestly have no idea what else I would be bringing. Probably some green eyed coneflowers, since they seem to be zooming along. Maybe some yellow crocosma - Carmen, we need to drop some off at your place soon. I'm not sure when, but when I can. This weekend we need to find tile for the basement floor, next weekend I'm having a yardsale. I gotta get rid of this crap so they can tear up my house. Tear up the house and tear up half the driveway...MORE GARDEN!! YEAH!!!!
GGG
where's the thread on who's bring what plant/plants to the round-up?
Donna
middle of azaleas first post. top of this page
thanks chris
Want to acknowledge some requests
If I have some 2nd year white bleeding heart babies, I will bring one for JIm(?), Coby and Carmen.
Jim, is the one bleeding heart you may have lost a pink one? Mine has gotten huge and I need to divide it in half, so I can give you the other half.
Coby- Honeycomb budleia (yellow) Did anyone else ask for one? this thread is getting long!
Janet, I would like some of your surprise Amaryllis seeds!
Carmen, please root one Crossvine for me!
Brenda
Yes, I asked for the Honeycomb Buddleia....and I will package up some of these seeds. I shared this on the Amaryllis thread, but I will share here as well. Brenda, I threw some of the seed into my bubbler and they sprouted roots within a weeks time...I am just so excited...I have a dozen or so planted and am hoping for the to grow into heatlhy plants, maybe I will even have some of these to bring..who knows....very new at this seed thing.
Brenda, please save me a bleeding heart if you have enough. Whichever color you have.
Thanks, Elaine
Thanks Brenda, I had the white and pink. I think I lost them both.

Did we forget about this thread for our trade list??
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/663844/#new
Still planning to come to RU. Not sure exactly what I will bring, but most of my plant stuff survived the tornado that came through here Thursday night. Not so good on our trees...lots of cleanup to do.
I'm still changing my trade list on the trade thread and trying to keep up with my trades.
I will add the Bleeding heart "orders" to my trade list! lol!
Elaine, glad to hear you're okey! What a homecoming!
Brenda

Susan
Thanks, Susan
We are all ok in our neighborhood. Lots of damage but thankfully only roof and trees..
Elaine
Thank Goodness :)
Ok, so major bummer here. I can't come. I'm studying for the GACE tests (the new teaching certification tests) and the date is May 19th. They only have 1 a month so I gotta go. BUMMER!!! :'(
I'll miss you guys!!! Again!!! lol
eco, been there- done that.. you probably know the library has ( or used to have) practice tests to help... what we go through to "prove" our teaching ability... and we sure didn't get it from books and taking tests, did we?? Anyway,, sorry you can't make it. And good luck.
Hugs, Elaine (X-teach)
Thanks Elaine, sorry I won't get to meet ya! :(
I have been reading over this thread trying to figure out who is bringing what and what I have asked for or promised..LOL It is quite confusing when your mind isn't as sharp as it once was....would it be possible to have a thread with just listings of bringing and wanting...that haven't got a lot of chatting in between..lol maybe we already have those and I am missing them somehow...but I don't want to miss bringing something I promised or miss seeing someone's list that has something I REALLY have been wanting either...truth be told, I love to have anything that someone has I don't have, just because it is from their garden....lol I love to have other gardeners favorites so I can think of them when I am out in the yard...it is so wonderful! Anyway, I may have some Augusta Gardenias that rooted over the winter, if so I will also be bringing those....I am going to get started on potting some things us really soon.
Here are some of the things I know I will have to separate in the yard...
White Yarrow
Shasta Daisy
Ajuga
Vinca
Sweet Autumn Clematis
Mondo Grass
Does anyone need Roadside Lilies?
Also have Lemon Lilies I could bring some of those if needed?
Will see if I can dig and separate the Red Lantana along with some of the other six varieties I have.
I have another ground cover that is similar to Ajuga, I can't remember what it is so I will take a picture of it and maybe someone will recognize it...I can bring that as well...
I have Gladiolus Croms I will list the ones I have once I am done planting them..LOL
Will also have some Caladiums I can share, not sure which ones yet, but will have some extras from my orders.
I would love it if someone could tell me how to "organize" this, as I am sure the ones that have done this for years, have a great system, to keep from getting confused. Please, if you do, let me know...I would like to get a handle on what I am doing, so I won't forget anyone or anything.
Have a great day!!! Thanks so much for any help too.
Sorry.. I'm a big talker and have added to the chat..
Okay.. I spoke too soon about not asking for plants!! I will be making my list soon, but would LOVE some sweet autum Clematis. It's been on my want list for a while and now the area around my mailbox is plantable, and I want that for it.. pretty please.. I'll have a trade list coming up soon.. Maybe for those that have lots we can have our own threads to keep us clear?
Susan
No problem.....I will put your name on one...lol
Janet - I have repeatedly asked that we don't chat on the Trade List Thread but it seems we can't resist replying to each request - thus cluttering it up. I suggested that we use Dmail to request our trades and then post that on your spot on the trade list - If we all did this we could keep it "clean" and the trade lists would be easy to follow. I don't see a spot on that thread where you put your list. You could go back and edit one of your posts and copy and paste your list there. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/663844/ I'll gurantee that if I started a new Trade Thread - it would only be a short time til it was full of chit Chat again - we are all just too eager to respond - I have been guilty too. Perhaps if we went back now to that thread - and just delete the stuff that is not actually on our "list", we could clean it up and we would not be so apt to overlook things.
Azalea, I'm guilty of clogging up that thread, so I'll go first. I edited my chatter before I was able to copy and paste over here. Anyhoo, it was chatter. I do have a committment on that thread that I need to move so I don't forget it for the roundup. I've got cakes in the oven that need to come out so I'll finish editing mine later.
I think i finished editing and reached my daily limit. Course it's 11:49 pm, guess I could start again at 12:00am.lol
I moved trade talk into my tradelist of wants and haves. That actually makes it easy for me to keep up with it.
Back to my chatter I edited...................Janet, your name is spread out in over 31/2 acres in my yard, gf!
You are a doll! I have edited some of mine as well..I will try to finish it up tomorrow...I need to get my trade list ready and figure out what I am bringing...
I have winter sown so much that I think I'll plant everything to give it a good rooting head-start. Then, closer to the ru, I'll dig up and pot up to take to the ru. I'm afraid I'd have too many pots sitting around to keep watered for two 1/2 months. I do have the watersorb crystals to put in the ru pots, though. They are the cat's meow.
Thanks guys, I know this will help. Keep up the good work. Hey, it's 12:27am, 1st Day of Spring.

I want some of these daffodils..LOL I really would love to have some of the older ones! I saw an email that showed a hill on a woman's property, she had planted 50,000 daffodils over many years and it was the most beautiful site I have ever seen...I would love to have some scattered all over my hill in the back...
I have seen that picture too There is a story about it called "the Daffodil Theory" I think - Beautiful Double flowers. I have a path that my neighbor and I installed through the woods about 3 years ago - they are all past their prime now - sad to see them go. Wish I could post a pic of it.

Those are frilly like a flower plant, not a bulb. Too cute! I've seen massed daffs in fields, too, that must have taken decades to mulitply to that volume. Your hill in back would be perfect. Just throw and plant where they land. Or would they roll down the hill first?. LOL
Oh, I wish you could too....why are they past their prime..I would think they just keep on forever..LOL
I have good start on them, I think I have about eight or ten varieties now...but I would love more..lol...yes, they would roll some if I tossed them out there..but I would love clumps all around the rest of the plants, I planted a lot of grape hyacinths last year and they look wonderful! They are from my Mama's yard.
By Past their prime - I mean the started blooming about 3 weeks ago and are now starting to fade. I hate it when they get to this stage, it's ok where they are in the path, but I can't wait for the leaves to turn brown so I can cut them back in some beds that I have.
Oh, I see, I have some of the Emperor Daffodils that are just about done, and I hate it too..the first ones I had blooming were the oxeye looking ones, not sure that is what they are called..lol and they are done, as are the tete a tete little bitty ones...but the later ones are coming in now..and they smell so good! I have some white ones blooming now too...
Oh, good, I'm glad you clairified that Azalea, I was hoping my thoughts were that they would continue to multiply. I have a cluster of daffs and scillas in a bed around a Japanese magnolia. First year for daffs so what am I to do, just look at ugly foliage until it turns brown then cut it off with shears?
I usually plant something else with mine that will cover them like daylilies, or other taller flowers, shasta daisy, etc. I never cut mine down....just let them do their thing...lol
ooopsssssss.. should I take mine out too.? I can't take the picture out. Sorry just responding to a question and forgot all about that..
Susan
