I have heard so many different methods of making sure that the cannas survive the winter, does anyone have ideas and suggestions on this?
Over- wintering Cannas in Cincinnati-help
Les Nesman still hanging around there ;)
I lift mine, clean and let dry overnight and then store in peat moss. My attic is a bit warm 45-50 and I only get about 50% survival. There is a canna forum

Do you remember the episode when Les threw the turkeys out of the plane because he thought they could fly?
Anyway thanks for your reply, do you wet the peatmoss?
If yes - how damp?
What do you store them in? cardboard boxes?
You know it - in retrospect Herb Tarlick was one of the more likeable characters on that show.
Do not wet the peat moss, I lose most of mine to rot. The peat moss for me buffers the temperature changes and condensation better. I store my dahlias and calla lily the same way.
I use a plastic pot - although a box is fine. Spread them out in the box so they don't touch each other in case one starts to rot.
I have used the mesh bags that potatoes come in. Put in the peat moss, sort of isolate each one, and hang in a cool place, that will not freeze. Have lost very few with this method. The logic, is that the bulbs have circulation, and breathe.
"As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!" :)
